Raw Fu

100 Day Raw Food Challenge

Anyone have this done? Everything I read says it's very necessary. It's something I really want to get done but it's pretty pricey for me right now. I bought an enema kit while I do a juice feast. The difference I heard from each is basically the Colon Hydrotherapy flushes the entire colon while an enema will only get a portion of the lower colon.

Just curious what others thought.

I personally do this once a month, and find it very beneficial, it is more cleansing than the home enema kits. I feel that when you initially go Raw that doing colon hydrotherapy can be so helpful, as when you are initially going Raw you will generally detox quite a bit, and a lot of toxins will be dumped into your system. Doing colon hydrotherapy can help with getting over the detox faster as you are helping to remove the toxins from your system more readily. Too for long-term since the Raw food diet is very cleansing, it can be useful for aiding in removal of toxins from your system over time.

I found when I first started detoxing and healing my body it was very beneficial to do a colonic series. After that though I rely on a salt water enema from time to time or an herbal detox to keep things moving along with my diet. I've worked so hard to replenish the good bacteria in my colon I hate thinking about washing them all out!

Hey - thanks! I've heard about this in the Master Cleanse. For now until I will use Salt Water and an home enema-kit. I def. want to do Colon Hydrothearpy when I can afford it. I found a person who does it for $80.00/first visit then $60.00 re-vists.

The salt water flush worked okay for me.

I've heard that colonics ruin the elasticity of your colon. Plus they take out the good bacteria.

Whatever you choose to do, I advice taking a probiotic.

You raw food people are nuts. :)

Am I one day going to get really excited about colon hydrotherapy? Because right now, I'm just plain scared of some colonics! Why is it necessary? Is it more recommended for people with digestive issues? The only digestive issue I have is heartburn, and since I cut out gluten, that's gone.

I know I can get uptight. I know I have a corn cobb stuck up my butt (Southern saying, not literally!) when I'm close to deadline and running out of time at work. But why would I want a colonic?

Am I the only one who is curious about this?

I've been curious about this, too. I've never had any digestive issues and things move along just fine (especially since going raw!!), so, I wonder, would I feel better somehow? Also, it seems kind of unnatural. And I wonder about rinsing away all the good organisms working away in my digestive tracts. I've been raw for a year and a half and never went through a significant detox, so I just wonder what the point would be for me to do colonics.....I'm certainly not opposed, just curious.

I don't think I've gone through a significant detox either. Yet. My face broke out at right around the 2 month mark, but other than that, I've felt pretty normal. Well, except for the lack of heartburn, fatigue, and back pain! But digestively speaking (I have never used THAT term before), I haven't noticed a bit of difference since going raw. Same pipes, I guess.

I'm actually getting one done on Friday and I'm pretty excited! Kinda sounds funny to be excited about a Colonic but hey - simple things excite me =)
Since going raw my goal is to clear up the junk from years past. I'm basically looking to start totally new and improved!

One of the major reasons for wanting to do colonics especially if you have never done one, etc... is to purge toxins from your system, whether you have just gone Raw, etc... or have been raw for sometime, it still would be very beneficial. Toxins can collect in your system from years and years of improper diet, plus toxins from the environment, etc... and colonics will aid in removing these from your system. Also, it can help with removal of candida, which is a big problem for just about everyone. They can do things like coffee colonics, and other types of implants such as wheatgrass, etc... which aid in healing of the intestinal tract and also in the instance of the coffee colonic this allows for th liver to produce more bile, and help in cleansing the liver, and the body of more toxins.

Overall I think it can be very beneficial to go on occasion, because even though we are on the Raw diet their other factors we cannot control such as our environment, we are constantly breathing in pollution, and so forth, and while the Raw diet does aid in cleansing our bodies of toxins, colonics are a way to purge these toxins more readily. The colonics will remove a lot of flora from your intestines, but through probiotic supplementation, you can readily re-populate your intestines.

It is said that after years on the SAD, mucoid plaque builds up and needs to be eliminated from the bowel. This plaque blocks nutrients from being absorbed. It also causes the body to reabsorb toxins that should be eliminated. If you are brave you can go to: blessedherbs.com and then click on testimonials to see pictures of eliminated plaque. THEY ARE EXTREMELY GROSS! BEWARE!

There may be different information about this within the raw community. This is just what I have come across so far.
