ANDRE'S REVENGE DAY 2: Why Are We Eating All of These Fruits and Vegetables?

I will be the first person to admit that when I went on the Raw Food Diet, I wanted to lose a lot of weight, and I wanted to lose it FAST! I had read the transformation stories. I had seen the transformation photos. And I wanted that to be me.

After being on the Raw Food Diet for 100 Days, I realized that the weight was a fringe benefit to the raw food lifestyle. I was conquering my food allergies, and also getting nutrition straight into my cells for the first time in my life. My focus shifted from weight to nutrition.

Today I talk to you a little bit about phytonutrients, and why eating all of these fruits and vegetables is actually important to your health, and will help you lose weight by helping put your internal chemical processes back in balance.

Grumpy Bunny? Tell me it ain't so! ;-)

In any event, you're putting on a VERY brave face, Bun - and God damn the wicked sugar monkey!

Looking forward to the green-o-meter - it's going to be interesting to know how many greens we "kill" as a collective!!!

I worked out I eat 1.5 lbs / 0.68 kg a day at the moment, but am going to make it my goal to get through 2.2 pounds / 1 kg a day from now on....

Everyone here at home in the UK was eating a ham-based vegetable soup tonight with toast - and the idea of eating salad wasn't really doing it for me... (It's way too cold for my liking)

But then I sat down and gazed into my *huge* bowl of leaves, the darker ones looking particularly ravishing - and I was soon in "green heaven"!

I am absolutely *convinced* that the most important meal of the day is the first one - because it sets the tone for the rest of the day... "Cheat" on the first bite of the day - and you'll cheat all day. Eat healthily, and you won't want to muck up your achievements so far (even if it's only an apple!)

That's why I choose a Green Smoothie (Simple, Powerful and just so delicious!)

2-3 bananas
280 grams kale / spinach
1 mango
2 cups coconut water / mineral water (depending on availability)
1 teaspoon MSM
1 teaspoon Blue Green Algae / Spirulina
1/4 teaspoon Kiki Enzyme powder

I've found that this keeps me going until lunchtime salad comes along - including exercising! It's wonderful...

First of all, Bunny....I must say, irritable or not, you look so beautiful! You're glowing, I swear! That scarf, oh my that scarf. It is stunning, that is YOUR color. That's one of our Rawfu'ers handiwork, right?

Anyhoo...my day 1 and 2 have been great. I've eaten LOTS of greens over these two days. Made a BIG smoothie yesterday that lasted me through this mornings breakfast.

Another thing I'm doing in this new year is going 100% gluten free. I've mentioned in other comments that I'm going to adjust my attitude and look at it as a new adventure. There's still some holiday goodies left in our kitchen at work, and I could have easily dug right in. Almost did, thinking, Oh the hell, I'll start on Monday. But I've decided that all the "someday" talk is stopping NOW! So I decided that everytime I walked into the kitchen and saw all those gluten-laden things, I would say to myself "Ewwww, gross". So I'm thinking that maybe by doing that, I can psych myself out of actually wanting to put it in my mouth! Hope it works. I'm also gonna use alot of prayer!!!

Also, I don't know what kind of job you're looking for now, but you should think about being a teacher or a life coach. You would be AWESOME, and so much fun to work with.

Have a great evening. LOVE and HUGS as always!

Good day 2 so far (dinner still ahead).

Started off with 1 qt water with 1 lemon juiced into it and 10 drops stevia.

I make a great green smoothie this morning with some of the stuff I have - haven't gone out to get spinach yet. Tomorrow there's a farmer's market in the town next to me, so I'm waiting to see what they have. I used 2 tomatoes, a cucumber, water, a heaping tablespoon of green powder super stuff, 2 garlic cloves (LOVE spicy food), and a small, very ripe avocado. MUCH better than yesterday's. Think I'll try a couple of drops of Tabasco sauce next time - yes, I know, not raw.

Still reading Dr. Cousen's Diabetes book and really not looking forward to giving up fruits, but if that will keep me off medication BRING IT ON!

Lunch was a repeat of yesterday's whole wheat bread (hey! I'm transitioning here), avocado (good thing I live in San Diego county), tomato, romaine, on red onion. Really good.

Dinner will probably be the second half of this morning's smoothie and some brown rice with green onions.

My blood sugar was down to 144 this morning, from yesterday's 157 - so PROGRESS is being made!!!

I'm with you, Bunny, I want to lose weight, but now I look at that as a by-product of getting healthy.

GO GREEN!

I think "sugar monkey" should be added as a tag today ;) Heehee Naughty sugar monkey!

Day 2 is going well - I just went shopping & have enough greens in the fridge now to eat 1 pound per day for a week. I also bought lots of fruit for my son. I'm home now, drinking green juice.

Where is the greenometer? Or is it not here yet?

I almost caved for something salty today - corn chips or something...anything crunchy and salty! But I didn't!

Day two is actually going great. Had my green smoothie for breakfast, a guacamole salad for lunch and super green soup for dinner. I'll probably finish off my day with a fruit smoothie or banana-something-or-other for dessert.

I just realized I seem to be eating too much fat (avocado and sunflower seeds). Gotta watch that.

I had a no-crap day, which was crap. Then, things started moving and grooving and I feel so much better! I even made it through pizza-and-a-movie night with some yummy guacamole. Mmm.

I completely agree that the first meal can enlighten or ruin your Rawfu day! Once I eat something cooked, I assume my day is already ruined and I can't stop. I say to myself "I'll eat 100% tomorrow". What I really should be saying is, "I'll eat 100% starting now" but that never happens. I just never had that kind of willpower. I like to start my day out with something simple like fruit and a mild green smoothie. Then I am set till almost mid - late afternoon.
