Today RawDawg Rory is Rockin' The Fu during a cooking demonstration at Glen's Catch a Heathly Habit Cafe in Ct. And he's, as usual, getting right down to the business of how to please the ladies and making a lovely chocolate sauce. You'll be needing this recipe for the holidays. Or...today!
One of the reasons that I knew that I could live forever on a raw and living food diet was because chocolate was considered healthy and even NUTRITIOUS.
Check out this graph from UliMana's website about the antioxidant power or raw cacao powder!
WOW! That is why raw chocolate is considered a superfood. It gives you high doses of antioxidants which help to battle free radicals in the body produced by our toxic enviornment. So, go ahead, eat some raw chocolate and know you're doing something good for your body.
Another great fun vid ...you have a really easy to understand way of doing things, its never complicated and its always very tastey stuff.
I am slowly going over to raw chocolate...but and its a BIG BUT...(no sniggering at the back !)....as its SOSOOooooooo over the top in nutrients then you dont need much of it or
1 : You will become addicted
2 : It could have negative effects as more isnt always better
3 : If you dont want caffiene in your diet its NOT an alternative as it contains caffiene
Our bodies can not cope with too much of a good thing as it over loads the liver...
However its a good product, its tastey and as a raw alternative to processed oil rich chocolate its great :)
If you get headaches, high blood pressure or you get hyper on coffee, then try only a very small amount and see how you feel. I went hyper, I started sweating, got heart palpatations and got a thumping headache on only a few small squares...so beware, but ENJOY :)
Things are goin' great Bunny! Love the info on todays post about the health benefits of raw cacao!! How're you doin' today? :0)
Raw Chocolate also has some other fun goodies to offer such as~
> Omega 6 fatty acids
> Phenylethylamine (PEA) which are those groovy chemicals our bodies produce when we are in love. PEA's not only make us feel good but, increase focus and awareness and act as an appettite suppressant!
>Tryptophan which is an essential amino acid that that has mood-enhancing qualities. Tryptophan also interatcs with other chemicals and vitamins in raw cacao to increase our serotonin levels and the higher these levels, the better we feel!
>Raw cacao also contains serotonin and this tryptamine is the main nuerotransmitter in our body, the better our nuero transmissions again, the better we feel!
Raw cacao does contain a small amount of caffeine in the form of theobromine, but from what I've read up on raw cacao the highest levels found in raw cacao are still about 1/20th of what you'd find in the average coffee!
If you are sensitive to caffeine (like my lovely wifey Amanda is) you may find that you react to an excess of raw cacao the same way you'd react to having caffeine so experiment and see what works for you! I'm a cacao-fiend myself and can't get anough of the stuff! When I eat a bunch of raw chocolates in one shot I can feel a lil' blah, but if I have a cacao smoothie (or two) I feel great! To each their own! :0)
For a load of great info on the benefits of raw cacao, I'd reccommend David Wolfe's new book "Superfoods" it's definetely an interesting read! :0)
This is such a great recipe! And so easy. I think I have all of the ingredients. I'll have to make some this weekend. Thanks, Rawdawg! Yes, you are lookin' great! Hugs to you and your beautiful family!
I wanted to let you guys know that RawFu Member, Vanessa Barg, of www.gnosischocolate.com is also now selling her chocolate in BULK! So, if you have holiday treats you want to make, but don't want to have to make all of the chocolate from scratch, you can start with some of Vanessa's very very special blends.
I have a pound of almond coconut chocolate in my freezer right now, just waiting to be made into a holiday masterpiece or added to special occassion smoothies.
Vanessa is one of the smartest (ahem, and may I say sexiest) green business women in the raw food world today. Check her out if you haven't had her chocolate before.
His wife is lovely! You know what they say...behind every great man...
