Raw Fu

100 Day Raw Food Challenge

It's Thursday and Penni is in the house, but with a special guest appearance. Two topics of discussion fuel tonight's flame and they both have to do with the head (mentally and physically).

We'd like to hear from you if you have experience on either topic.....yeh, you're going to have to watch the video to know what I'm talking about!

So tell me, HOW ARE YOU DOING ON DAY 17??

Im not so sure about the whole no shampoo thing ,but as far as the ADHD,we give our children far to many products that contain corn in them,if you look at the ingrediants on just about everything in a store it has some type of corn filler in it.So all that natural suger is making our children hyped up.All these problems never used to be around cause most people lived off the land.

Penni and Taylor.....EXCELLENT JOB GALS!!! Penni, your lovely locks look just like mine after just ONE day without shampoo =) As for the ADD/ADHD...I work with - and have a 20 year old who has ADD - kiddos (K-12) with ADD/ADHD. One awesome thing is FISH OIL, or FLAX OIL....omega's!! Next, look into lecithan and B12, also kick out the sugar girlfriend!! I know, it's tough, but when my son hit 20...he realized that sugar really just harms him. And my sweet 16 year old daughter, has kicked soda in the butt and is a vegan who now has CLEAR skin (not a prob for you Taylor - you and Penni look like sisters!!!)
So many wonderful, natural, healthy alternatives for FOCUS and ADHD.
Penni, girl, HOW do you look so perky, awake, alive, smooth-skinned, no "allergic shiners"???? COULD IT BE THE RAW FOOD???????

Taylor, thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us. I'm sure you are helping people here on Rawfu. You are a very smart and beautiful young lady!

Penni, I'll look forward to hearing about your further no-poo adventures. Can't say I've read or know much about that subject. I'll have to look into it.

Hugs to you both!!

I shampoo once a week with an organic shampoo with no SLS. You can go on to www.cosmeticdatabase.com to check out the ingredients of products in a scale of 0-10.
My son has ADHD. He is very hyper and is often unable to focus. He goes to a special state school. He is on a vegan whole food high raw diet. He gets herbs several times a day from Herbs for Kids. He gets Valerian Root and omega 3 supplement before going to school or I just started switching out to chamomile (their dropper formula). In the evening we have a tea party and he gets valerian root, and drinks nighty night tea. I just bought chamomile tea for evenings 'tea parties'. It still takes a long time before he goes to sleep. My son can NOT handle dyes in food. It makes him go nuts. I have seen a dramatic difference in his eating a 98% organic whole food high raw diet. Even my parents in KY said they couldn't believe the difference in him when he went out this last time. He also snacks on walnuts and I put flaxseed meal on his breakfast. Most ADHD kids are lacking omegas and also zInc, You can also try a calcium/magnesium/zinc liquid supplement before going to bed in addition to the rest of these things. It works. You can check out Kirkman Labs that specializes in kids with ADD and ADHD. I buy most of my stuff from a Frontier Co-Op or on Vitacost.com

YEA! Love it!

I've been really pleased doing my hair with
lemon juice. Dilute the fresh lemon juice about 50-50 with water and juice - strain--- and pu ti on your hair - dip your hair in it - stick your head in the bowl - whatever works. I was amazed... My hair isn't greasy to begin with and I hardly ever shampoo it- but it needs alot of conditioner - it's dry so I apply coconut oil often.

As far as add and adhd - there is a body of research and lots of empirical evidence that Super Blue Green Algae is majorly helpful for the brain function and to repair the brain. I can send info to any one interested. www.healthyfutures.net/HealthWorks...

Blessings to all

Hello SUPER CUTE LADIES!
Its ANNRAWKS. I have had ADD or whatever you want to call it for my whole life. I cant focus well, unless its something that really interests me. I am hype and a little moody at times. I have never been on medication for it because I was never told I had it when I was younger. It was not something that was talked about much back then. These days where there is a little quiz or something online or such asking do you have ADHD? I answer everything with a YES. I wish you did not have to take meds but know what. If you feel better taking them maybe it is working for you. Do what is best for you. I know that when I DONT EAT SUGAR I feel SO much more balanced. I gave up sugar for one whole year and it made such a difference. It was SUPER hard for me to do but I did it.
Anyways....sorry I cant help much. I just wanted to say that I relate. Currently I am trying to figure out a way to let go of my sugar addiction! Its really bad. xoo. ann

Taylor,

You are absolutely lovely! I've seen you in other videos that Penni has done and I can tell you are an awesome individual. You are articulate and beautiful! I've observed many individuals with ADD and ADHD over the years. Diet *definitely* plays a role in how the body/mind works. The more you notice how different you feel when you are eating the raw foods that Penni is creating, the sooner you'll be able to realize that you can take your health into your own hands. You can be IN CONTROL of your health, your mind, and your energy! How cool is that?!

Penni,

Your hair is still beautiful, but I can imagine that it doesn't feel or smell all that great. ;-) I tried no poo, but I couldn't stand the smell. I do use one of the most natural shampoos/conditioners I could find, but one day I'd like to try no poo again. My daughter did it for a long time and at first she had the oily scalp and her hair didn't smell all that great, but then her hair got even thicker and stronger and more beautiful. The odor never completely went away, though, so I think she sometimes uses some of the shampoo/conditioner every once in a while.

I look forward to hearing about your experiments with no poo!!

Lots of love to you and Taylor!

Wendi
XOXOXO

HI Penni and Taylor, I can appreciate your wanting to get off of the ADHD drugs. To think that a drug can fix a problem like that is ludicrous. ADHD is so easy for doctors to diagnose because anyone and everyone could probably be diagnosed with it. The root cause of most of these problems is an unbalanced body chemistry due to mineral deficiencies or the body's inabiity to absorb minerals. Obviously, consuming refined sugar, refined grain, and processed foods will also mess up the body chemistry, which can cause ADHD symptoms. We can choose to eat "food" or "merchandise" and when we choose the latter we will pay the consequences - guaranteed! As adults, we can struggle in doing what we know is best for our bodies and for our children who live in our "junk food" society, they are being bombarded with enticements and advertisements for food (merchandise) that will keep them dependent on DRUGS! Penni, it sounds like you are doing a great job with Taylor when you do have her and the education you are giving her will help her make good choices when she is away from you. Stay Healthy!

I think the main thing is that if you do you use shampoo, to make sure it's paraben free. Since I went raw I've gone from shampooing every day to every other day or every three days, and my hair doesn't get greasy. I think you just have to work up to it, and then the oil glands will stop producing so much oil...

Taylor, wow, you’re such a beautiful and articulate young lady :) … Personally, I think this world would be a very boring place without people who are the life of the party. But, I do know that restlessness can feel pretty bad sometimes, too. For me, I’ve found that any amount of corn syrup very negatively affects my mood and how I feel. My children and grandchildren have the same reaction.

Penni, no poo makes sense to me. I tried it and was using the water/baking soda on my scalp, which actually dried my hair out. The theory is that it’s the products that cause the overproduction of oil in the first place. I didn’t stick with no poo. It seemed to take longer than just shampooing. But I’d like to go back to it. If you’re just getting way too greasy, it may help to mix up about a cup of water with a teaspoon to a tablespoon of baking soda. Put that right on your scalp and rub and then rinse. The baking soda will build up over time, I found, so it needs to be rinsed really well and not done too often.

xoxo
