100 Day Raw Food Challenge

Bunny Berry

Day 26- Surive 100 Days with Bunny- LET'S TALK ABOUT GOO, BABY!

Hi everybody, I have giant globs of goo coming out of my skin. Isn't that exciting? Some people may thinks it's gross, but I proudly call it progress. I am going through another cycle of detoxification, and it shows.

I'm interested to hear about your normal detox symptoms, and especially any gooey skin stories. My skin was a total wreck when I started eating raw food. Every pore was clogged, and I looked older than my age. This year my skin had continued to detoxify, and the cycles just keep on coming. Sometimes they are unsightly. But it's all a part of healing.

The healing never stops. Now I wear my pimples with pride!

What are you detox symptoms?

Bunny....wow, love this honest post!! My current state is......detox??? I feel like I haven't been "green enough" to detox so my only noticable change is constant cravings! I'm thinking this may be yeast die off, or just my imagination. I want so very much to change my habits and get to the point where I feel like icky things are leaving my poor, toxic body - but I'm afraid that my eating habits prevent a "true" detox from occuring! You said you looked older at one point....I'm 47+ and feel like I look 57+...wrinkles, dry, tissue-paper skin, saggy stuff everywhere and GIANT dark, puffy circles. I don't believe this is a result of detox, I believe it is the result of not trying hard enough and not eating clean enough. So tomorrow, my Mother's Day gift to myself will be to juice, cleanse, walk, do yoga, dry skin brush, drink NO coffee and be good to my body for once =) I need to detox from myself!

Bunny, I can't believe how much weight you have lost.. Seriously....

I know that's not the focus of the video... How cool that your body is healing from the inside out!

Zits. My skin had been the loveliest it had been since childhood for about 6 months prior to going raw...and then "The Bermuda Triangle of Zits" kept showing up on my chin, my cheek, my forehead: always a connect-the-dots triangle pattern with one kingpin zit. But I survived, and now I just have constant small zits on my forehead, chin and top lip. I try to think of it as a good thing, getting the crap out of my body.

I'm not sure if this is detox or what, but I can really sense thirst now. Before I often just ate instead of drinking, but now I can tell the feeling in the top of my throat that says, "I'd like a little water." Very new to me. Even if I've eaten water-heavy foods all day I still get this thirst daily.

My first couple weeks of raw I had a couple scary detox experiences:

1. My first ever episode of vertigo. That happened three times.
2. Woke up one night with my mouth filled with salty saliva and I was dizzy. This has only happened to me when I've had
a couple migraines when I was younger.

The other symptoms were typical and not overpowering: fatigue, sore neck, runny nose, phlegm, puffy eyes, slight depression, and headache.

I have experienced facial breakouts as I went through several detoxing stages. I had my mom with me for 2 weeks last month. I put her on a juice fast, raw foods and helped her quit smoking. She experienced a massive burning on her inner elbows and inner knees. We agreed it was a detox! Odd one, but the burning sensation left a rash that hurt to touch. Within a few more days of raw it cleared up. It's amazing what the body goes through.

I am much like you, I rejoice in aches, break outs, whatever other weirdnesses my body does as I detox!!

Fab video, Bunny! I loved how you spoke about it being a healing curve and that detox is ongoing. In fact, cleansing/colonic guru Gil Jacobs says to keep in mind that anything other than a fruit or vegetable that we put into our bodies in this lifetime, is still lodged somewhere in the body like cement. Those of us who ate a "normal" diet (ie. SAD) since childhood, could do a colonic a month for the rest of our lives in order to fully detoxify our systems.

I've had a host of detox symptoms at various stages of this journey, but one of the most amazing detox experiences was the BOAT LOAD of mucous that exited my body, from every imaginable orifice. I mean un-be-liev-able. Like "where the hell is this all coming from?" kind of mucous. Turns out, I was weaned on soy formula and continued to consume soy milk on a daily basis into adulthood. Come to find out, soy is the most mucous-producing plant on the planet. Who knew?

Cheers to your "smelly goo" that exited your God Pod yesterday!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!

Soy, mucus forming?
I thought dairy foods were the most mucous forming. As a high raw vegan who still consumes some soy products, I have way less mucous with a cold or whatever than those around me who are still consuming dairy products to the hilt.
Interesting.

OMG I'm going to vomit!!! I'm listening to the video right now--three tablespoons. EEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKK!!!!!! KDcat was watching/listening with me and she has now moved away from the computer. ROFL

My physical detox was very mild. A week, or so, ago I had some skin detox, however. I ate some olives that I don't think were raw--and they might have actually been bad since Jim and I had tummy aches that evening after eating them. That night my back was a bit itchy and then in the morning my back was broken out (something that never happened before). I know for sure that my body was reacting to those olives and it instantly started detoxing! WHOA! It was so strange and so very obvious that my body didn't like those olives. The healthier our bodies get, the faster they detox!

I did have some other skin things throughout the three years of raw and detoxing, but nothing was like that instant breakout from the olives. I had some cysts on my face as I was first eating raw, had some gross sore on my nose for months that I was afraid would never leave. Overall, however, my skin is now so healthy and smooth after over three years of raw foods. I'm looking forward to what my skin will be like in another year, or so!

Thanks for sharing, Bunny. Even though I have a weak stomach, I still listened to the whole video. LOL

I love you! Happy Mother's Day!

Wendi
XOXOXO

Uuuuh, Bunny. I am eating, SisterGoddess!

Good for you, though.

How much fruit do you eat during the day?

Lots of love and light coming you way.

I was raw for about a year and didn't have many symptoms (runny nose, sore throat) but my most substantial symptoms occurred when I fasted for 30 days on hot tea and water. (The last 15 days were water only.) My detox symptoms included: a rash on my back that resembled Freddy Krueger-like scratches (kidneys pushing crap out), brown patches of discolored skin that disappeared over time, and of course, nausea and flu-like symptoms. Oh, and of course the big fat, white tongue. I loved the symptoms because of what they meant.

I thought this was interesting though. On Day 31 of my fast, I was incredibly nauseated and could only walk around the house bent over (had to let the dogs out). I just wanted to lay in bed the whole day-felt so crappy. I had to start juicing that day to end the fast and it took almost an hour for me to make that first glass of juice. Set up the juicer-go lay down. Clean the romaine-go lay down. Clean the carrots-go lay down. Anyway, it was only a couple of MINUTES after drinking that first glass of juice that I felt completely fine. I had stopped (or at least slowed down) the detox. It made me regret not taking it to 40 days but it was my first long fast and I was kind of scared despite everything working out the way I read it would.
