DAY 3- Ruby Thursday- Consistency is More Important Than Perfection

Today Penni brings a message that is near and dear to my heart. I've said it once, and I'll say it again, consistency is more important than perfection. You don't have to be the valedictorian of raw food your first week on this challenge. You just have to be committed to making consistently good choices.

Do your best. BE HERE during this challenge, and be honest about what you want your results to be? Hey, what DO you want your results to be? Write them here in the comments!

HOW IS YOUR DAY 3 GOING, and WHAT DO YOU WANT YOUR RESULTS TO BE?

This resonates strongly with me. I have to remember that it's not a race. It's not a diet. It's a healing change in my life. Consistency is key.

I want go get as many toxins out of my system as possible during this challenge. I want to see if I can release them from the Dunlop, and let them go forever. Goodbye, toxins. This is your official eviction notice.

Penni is so right about the journey, I've been eating raw for almost 4 years and I'm not a 100% and I still do the same things as she said. You think oh I can eat that, then you do and then you feel bad. For me sometimes I even make bad vegetarian or vegan choices by going for something too rich, then the next day feel like crap until I have a couple of days of green smoothies to get it all out.

Day 3 has been good. Smoothie for breakfast and lunch just finished a nice kale salad with a lara bar and will now head out for my yoga class in about an hour.

I want to be consistent with my journey during this challenge. I want to be more creative in the kitchen and create a routine with soaking, sprouting, fermenting. I want to explore and learn about fermented foods and make my own sauerkraut (got 16 cabbage plants growing for this plan), pickle beets and other fermented goodies such rejuvelac and make cheese.

Penni! I love your book case background!
but I thought I was the raw food valedictorian? JOKE KIDS< IT"S A JOKE!!!!!!!

100% is NOT necessary, it's true, unless you are trying to heal a bad banana disease like me..but even then, 75% would work for healing too. I am an overachiever I guess..
btw David Wolfe: he's on crackcao.. bad joke sorry,
love you bunches
deb
PS I am definitely not a crazy goat ;) but I do know that you are Gorgeous!

Great video Penni!

I want my results to be losing the "all or nothing" behavior. I also want to clear my body of toxins and calm my Crohns down.

I've been at this since August 1, 2008 and just now think I might have finally hit my stride. Not perfection, but a consistency that allows me to think about choices before I make them instead of just blindly giving in to every mood and emotion and trying to numb out with food. I've decided to take emphasis off of food this time around and pay close attention to how I make choices. Go figure, I've been 100% ever since I decided that food was not going to consume my mind every waking moment of the day. Getting in touch with myself has been an unexpected part of this journey, since I was originally attracted to raw food for energy and weight loss. Those things have happened too, but the mind/body connection I've experienced takes the cake. This is the longest I have stuck with any "diet", and that's because raw food is a lifestyle change. Now that I know the truth I can't imagine ever being able to return to my old lifestyle.

By the way, Penni, you look radiant & gorgeous in the video :)

i'm 100% raw ... so far today :) -- the bf is coming and we're going to pick up baby chicks :D -- and who knows if i get taken out for dinner ... if i don't i ll have lowanna's mushroom soup when i get back -- if i do i will make the best choice i can

my results i want are to release the rest of my weight -- tone up -- and declutter the toxins from my body AND my physical abode -- being mostly raw my anxiety attacks haven't been as bad as they would be on raw -- it has taken 3 days of cheerleading myself (ok talking myself into it) to start since today and tmw are my weekends i am hoping to make a huge dent in the livingroom -- then start posting some things on ebay :) -- sorry nothing raw yet but craft related things -- you can check my profile out at dueling_needles -- give me a couple days to put things on -- or if you like you can msg me here and i can tell you things i have in whatever category you're looking for :) hugs T

6 years on the journey. i learn something new everyday.

What do I want to accomplish on this challenge? one foot in front of the other. I can't be 100% raw for 100 days, but I can be raw for my next bite of food, and the next, and the next, and so on. one bite after another. and I have to recognize that any impulse that is steering me towards eating cooked food is not an impulse coming from my body or from my best interests, no matter how appealing it may seem.

rough day 3, but 100% so far.

what have you been eating lately? I mean, I know you're a walking-talking allergy machine, but let's investigate further. my guess is it's a detox response. don't take Benadryl! that stuff knocks me out cold if I take half of a child's dose! better to take an enema or a colonic, or to do mega water flushing first. and aloe gel straight from the plant or raw honey are both wonderful skin soothers.

First of all, you totally have as much energy as David Wolfe! I feel like you are bursting with energy!

I'm glad you took time to tell the Raw newbies that they may have some intestinal distress at first, but it will pass! (no pun intended) Stick with it, because it's totally worth all the effort you are putting into this change. Yay Day 3!

I seem to be having either an allergic reaction to something or a huge herpes outbreak on my face that is so crazy itchy!! Did you know that most people have Herpes Simplex 1? A lot of people don't have any symptoms, and some people only have a cold sore here or there their whole life. (That's who I thought I was.. until....behold the horror.....

So I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow at 8am. I took a couple Benadryl, just in case it's an allergy. It's itchy like poison ivy is! A classmate suggested it may be a symptom of detox from my healthy diet....we'll see!
