Bunny, I'm sure that many, if not all, of us participating in Penni's 10 Week experiment will also be checking in to Raw Fu regularly for your support and inspiration and the support of everyone else who has been with us. For myself, I don't see a conflict between the 100 day challenge here and Penni's 10 week program, since both are geared towards offering support for those of us doing raw food :).

I think having some guidelines in terms of food and menus is a great idea, BUT I would like to bring in another perspective.

When I started looking into raw foodism, like many others here, I went looking on the web for support groups and forums such as this one (although I didn't find Raw Fu at that time). I joined several forums and although there was a lot of support, there was also a lot of what I call "raw guruism". I saw many members (never the forum administrators, though!) behaving towards the raw food diet as towards the kinds of weight loss diets that I'm sure many of us have tried and failed at - being very rigid and prescriptive and trying to make others feel bad because they were eating foods that these people did not feel were "pure" (like raw condiments, fermented food, raw carob, raw caco, etc.) For myself, that really turned me off of raw food for a while.

I have since read several raw books and one thing that I notice about every raw food leader that I've read is that they emphasize that raw food is about freedom and finding what works for each person. These people offer guidelines (like Natalia Rose's Detox Diet) but never offer exact food lists or menus (at least that I've seen).

One of the things that I really like about this challenge is that you don't try to ram some prescriptive way of doing raw down anybody's throat and it's all about what works for you.

So I guess my view on offering more structure is that it can be great, as long as there is still the understanding that no one is going to try and tell anyone what they should and should not eat (and I'm not talking about you - I know you would never do that - but other members, perhaps those who have been doing this for a while).

And just to throw out there - Penni has given us a list of suggested foods and guidelines but there is nothing that is prescriptive about what she is offering which I, for one, appreciate!

Tam

I totally agree. I would present different menu options, but still maintain that whatever works for you as an individual is what you should put into practice. And I think Penni and I are on the same page on this. We both think it would be great in the future to have ideas and starters from all of the top raw plans available for people to use if they wish, but to totally disregard if they want to follow their own path.

I believe this is an individual journey, and that we're all here to support each other under a common goal.

Where did the video go?? I am on Penni's experiment but I would never leave Rawfu!!! I would find it helpful to get more info on spurces of calcium and protien. I did do the Fitday as you suggested and I am below 50% on these and my calories were 1300 if I guessed ozs right on the foods.Today I tried nut milk and I look preggers!!!! So no more nut milk for me (I did soak the nuts). I am allergic to seafood so I am unsure of trying the sea algae for protein.
You know what I love about raw??? I never know who is going to be looking back at me in the mirror each morning. My face changes so much. Today I am very young looking some days I seen more lose skinned. On those days i know that the baby face is just around the corner.

I love to watch cooking demos ,more cutting board cam! I like to know what I can sub for what. Like sunflower seeds work well in this recipe. I like more basic recipes. I don''t want to go buy a bunch of stuff to make one recipe and then have all these leftover ingredients.
BTW Rory is awesome and his videos are fun and educational.

I love this place because it is so open to EVERY person on their raw food journey. Whether they are just adding in more raw food, just starting to go 100% raw (like me) or people who are doing 80-10-10. This is the most welcoming forum I have visited and I have visited quite a few of the other ones and observed. This is the only one I felt comfortable joining because everyone seems so accepting!! Some forums were so closed minded and, honestly, downright rude that I would never considering posting and don't even bother reading them anymore.

I would love to hear what a nutritionist has to say and even some sample menus of what would give you the recommended daily allowance of all vitamins & minerals. But like you say, everyone is doing something different and what works for them!! Therefore nobody can be "right" or "wrong" just DIFFERENT!

Congratulations on your 36lbs. You are gorgeous girl! :)

Oh let's see . . what else would I love to see/hear here?

*I always need inspiration to GET MOVING! :) I struggle more with exercise than diet and as I age, I see the movement is just critical to have a shot at staying at a healthy weight. So maybe some talk about exercise, remind me *why* it's good for me, and what it does for me.

*More Cutting board Cam from you! I loved your recipes and would like to see more. :) Seeing someone cook something fairly simple is always a great inspiration. Also, a little more Rory, maybe? I adore you, Lou, Penni, and Rory, too, of course! There is something so fantastically inspiring about his energy *and* I love his recipes!! So easy and yummy and simple!

*Yes, I'd love a nutritionist to comment on things like protein and whatnot with regards to raw foods.

*Just more of you, Miss Bun Bun! :) Your vids always make me laugh, cry, smile, or just feel happy. yay!

take advantage of your strengths! i'd love to see something with the vision boards, and i know you are working on that. and i second the t-shirt idea. i never got one and i regret it! i hope you will have some in the future.
are there any raw nutritionists out there?
i think it's amazing that we have lowanna, rawdawg, penni, etc sharing with us. maybe another face or two would be a fun addition. although we all tune in for you as well.

Yes, I agree with everything I've read so far. I love Raw Fu even though I am mostly a lurker, or have been up to this point. I find alot of strength here and support, even though I don't say much. I especially love the videos, they are so supportive and inspiring. I'd love to see more additions in this area. We might end up with something like Raw Fu TV which would be great!
I also would love to see more T-Shirts offered. I'd love an "Eat your veggies" tee, and a Raw Fu tee with the cute little zen dude with the peas. Hmm, have you considered a Cafe Press shop? Or maybe there is a Greener version to Cafe Press out there somewhere.
Bottom line is that I love this community, it is unique from all the others and having checked out the others, it is still the only one that I visit. I think it's because it has a more homey feel to it, it is full of wonderful people who aren't trying to be perfect, they're just trying! I feel comfortable here!
I am doing the 10 week experiment too but it is not "taking the place of" Raw Fu, it is "in addition to" Raw Fu. Sort of supplemental if you know what I mean.
You rock big time Bunny and we love you!

Well as one stick in the mud who struggles with change......I love RawFu the way it is...my online community where I am at home! However....and I mulled this over last night, RawFu is a growing community. It is not the little 800 member site that it was when I first joined less than a year ago! So things must grow adapt become better than before. I really really liked the breakfast with bunny interviews. That would be such a great regular feature....I would esp. like it if you just randomly picked Rawfu'ers to interview. A kids feature would be great fun...I know my kids would love to record some raw kidz videos. More cutting board cam for sure! Your recipe demos are very unique and I love the style. I am not very interested in menu plans or nutritionist info...but that is bc I have read myself bored on those topics. Bunny, you are doing an amazing thing. Whatever you do astounds me with your creativity and verve...just keep doing what you're doing...I'll be here for sure!

Where Is The Video??????
Love and Peas, Tiffany

I think it's a good idea! I mean, emphasize to noobs that it's about what works for them individually, but also it'd be cool to have some structure that they can see and adopt if they so desire and then branch off from there. When you're so used to following various types of diets, you get used to a certain structure and when I first found raw food, I was quite lost; luckily it helped to have people on this site and others to answer my questions and give me somewhere to start and then I could change things up as I wanted (I'm STILL perfecting my diet lol! but it's more of a process than anything). It'd be quite good to have the option of structures available to give noobs somewhere to start, and we do it well already just having the people on this site we do have, but I def would support a nutritionist helping out too. Not overbearing but just guiding ya know? :D
