Raw Fu

100 Day Raw Food Challenge

Today there are TWO videos for you to enjoy. The first is about our topic of the week, The Eyes, and the second is about Community Health. One of our members needs our community support. It takes a village, you know.

THE EYES:
It's amazing how so many systems of our bodies want and need the same vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that are readily available in a raw food diet! Think yellow, orange, and GREEN!

THE COMMUNITY: There is someone in our community that needs our support. Gypsy Mama is facing and life and death scenario, and has made a medical decision that I fully support and stand behind. Hear her story here.

I will be praying for you...our whole family for you Gypsy Mama. I agree with you, Bunny, about bridging medicine and food when it comes to healing.
This girl is here to support you Gypsy Mama!!! We will be praying for you!!!!!! Raw Fu isn't just about people being 100% raw it's about a community of people who want to move forward in their health together and rally around each other to root one another on in all that we aspire to do....and eat our veggies along the way!

You are a dream! Such a wonderful video about support and community. I've had to get away from raw a bit b/c of digestion problems, but have felt that anytime I can come here because this is the MOST supportive raw community I've experienced. It's not just about raw, it's about living a wholly healthy life. You are in my gratitude list today Miss Bunny Berry!

Good luck Gypsy! I'll make sure to hold you in my thoughts on June 22nd and the days before/after.

Just another example of why Bunny Berry and Raw Fu are amazing beacons of light for all of us. This is exactly why I joined Raw Fu almost one year ago...I knew it was a special place. Blessings to you Gypsy, and don't even think about leaving our raw foodie family :)

Bunny, this is the best video ever! We all love Michelle and I know that I would miss her and her family terribly if she left Raw Fu. And like you said, just because she's having this procedure -- just means more raw juicing! Who knows -- with the weight off maybe a lung transplant might not be necessary (I hope, I hope).

You look sparkly and smell great from here in Texas. Kind of like the bananas and pecans I''m eating. We miss you, Lou and we forgive the BunBun.
My best friend down here has an insulin pump for her Type One diabetes, but can't eat DARK greens which apparently could cause kidney failure in her particular situation. I didn't know about that. sooo she just eats lots of light colored greens and likes 'em, too.
I just LOVE the concept of getting your nuts and berries out in the woods. That's my kind of analogy.

Eyesight starts to decline after age 40, unless you're a raw vegan. My eyesight has never been as sharp and clear as it is since I've gone raw. The human body needs those 20,000 chemicals, nutrients and enzymes found in fresh fruits and vegetables.

It wasn't clear what Gypsy is currently eating. It sounds like she isn't completely a raw vegan, or she's trying to become one? Dabbling maybe? Gastric bypass is something I could never recommend for a person. I'm constantly studying the health and diet connection. You end up cutting into the body, placing foreign objects into the body, and restricting food intake. If you aren't eating fully raw, the body needs to eat much more food to get the nutrients it needs.

A person with gastic bypass is malnourished and actually less healthy than someone who is morbidly obese.
It's VERY difficult to convince people to totally change their diet. Then to get them to stay on that for life.

There is only one choice I can personally advise, and that's to go exclusively raw. Absolutely no cooked food, no processed food, and no milk/dairy/cheese. Only fresh fruits, vegetables, and raw nuts. I wish I had a kinder, gentler way to approach this. But I really want people to have perfect health. She HAS to be exclusively raw. Any other option would seem to either make matters worse, or simply delay the inevitable. Throw out the bad food now. You can't worry about hurt feelings when a life is at stake.

Sweet Gypsy, go for it!! My best friend (same one with the insulin pump) needs a heart transplant and her husband even had one. We're all about organ donation and it sounds like you have good docs. When I had to circulate on organ transplants at work I'd tell the patient,"this is a very good day for you." We all love you and please remember---when people are praying for you and thinking positive thoughts for you you're walking in a spotlight of love. I hope the spotlight keeps you warm.
You go ahead and do what you have to do to help yourself. I will be passing your name along to all of my friends with prayer lists. I'm a cancer survivor who espects to have a long healthy life and I wish the same for you. You're a survivor right now and keep looking to the future. Love and prayers for you for healing and peace and comfort. xxooo-mimi
PS we need you and you need us. SO THERE!

Bigs hugs and prayers for you GypsyMama and your family. I hope this surgery gives you the health that is needed for the next step.
No judgement about the surgery at all, just big love towards you!!

Thank you for your observations. The video was not about the pros and cons of gastric bypass. I'm sure that Gypsy has been informed of the risk and compromises that she will face with this procedure. It's not the easy way out. Bypass surgery is major surgery, and changes your life completely. We all agree on that.

What I am trying to do is to create an atmosphere of support for one of our members who has been faced with a very serious (read up on plastic bronchitis, seriously, the prognosis is pretty grim) decision concerning life and death. You're not hurting feelings. This is a raw food community. You're preaching to the choir.

Please, people. Have compassion in your hearts for the fact that raw food cannot cure everything that comes along.
