100 Day Raw Food Challenge

CONGRATULATIONS ON MAKING IT TO DAY 60! Today I am responding to a YouTube video that Penni uploaded yesterday about growing your own food. You can see her video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSGAZaSLvkw

I also went to my local farmer's market today to pick up my CSA box. C'mon along and see!

Full Circle Farm is an 11-acre sustainable educational farm in the heart of Silicon Valley. We are a nonprofit operating on land leased from Santa Clara Unified School District, and we offer hands-on education to district students and 50% of the food we grow will be put into district cafeterias in the county's first farm-to-school program. We are compost-fed, pesticide & fertilizer free, beyond organic.

when we get back I am going to pay my dues and enjoy this paradise of goodies

Pixy, this is so great! I would love to grow my own melons. I think that would be heavenly! I need to share video and/or pics of what I've planted. I'll try to do that tomorrow. I'm having trouble with one tomato plant. My Facebook friends can see my dilemma there. I'll post here tomorrow. Bunny, I really enjoyed these videos. And Penni's, too!

Love my two CSA's and my garden. I have veggie CSA and a berry CSA plus growing some things in my garden. It's isn't quite a square foot garden. I already had raised beds when I moved into my house. I had planted some herbs and flowers before I found out about square foot. But it is still great. I've got kale, cabbage (white and red), red pepper, a watermelon plant, a cantaloupe plant, collards are still doing good, my eggplant is suffering. I also have about 10 cherry tomato plants my neighbor gave me and I have three different tomato plants in containers. Will try to get some pictures up. I love eating local and never having to go to the supermarket except for avocados and coconuts.

i have been posting bi monthly (every 2 weeks) in my blog about our garden and chickens -- this weekend coming up will be another installment -- we are still combating weeds but i managed to weed 2 rows of veg and then 2 rows of the viney stuff -- it doesn't sound like alot but each row is over 100 ft :P -- i have already enjoyed onions radishes and spinach from the garden -- sometimes it's eat as i weed lol -- this weekend i ll be able to tackle the carrot row since they are now big enough to where they wont get pulled out when you pull the weeds and hopefully the parsnips (they were still too small) -- already have a farmers tan so i may don the bathing suit top to get more vitamin D and less of an unsexy tan -- we will have to pull more onions this weekend since these are the ones we didn't harvest last fall and they came back -- i didn't know when they regrow in the sprint the one bulb splits and you get anywhere from 2 to 5 onions from it about the size or bigger of green onions and oh so mild ... yummy -- i love being in the garden -- sort of zens you out weeding for 6 or 7 hrs -- i m just curious how much exercise that is being on your hands and knees for that long -- oh yah and i finally invested in a pair of knee pads and they work wonders! -- we also need to trellis the peas this weekend but they are lookin good

a lot of work in the garden -- so far all those who promised to work for free produce haven't showed up -- but looking forward to taking my bowl, knife and raw ranch and just sitting and eating like i did last year! -- i also have a mini garden on my balcony for things i eat like tomatoes and peppers -- next year i am going to expand it -- have my little green house up and starting herbs in there -- everything is coming along nicely

i love summer and its bounty! hugs T
