Raw Fu

100 Day Raw Food Challenge

After 2 years of walking along a raw food path, stumbling, falling and stepping back up, I now find myself at a fork in the road. One way continues as I have been eating cooked food but mostly raw and the other is a raw food future. No exceptions.

I knew eventually I would get to this point I just didn't know when or what it would take to bring me here.

Over the last few weeks I have been feeling a definate shift in mindset with regard to eating this way and my health in general. I have been listening less to my ego and more to what my body is telling me. It is tired of yo-yoing between raw and cooked, it is tired of feeling lethargic and foggy headed after yet another round of binge eating cooked gunk. It wants to use its energies for something other than arguing with my ego as to whether or not 'I am sure this is the right way for me to eat',

I know it is right, my wisdom knows it is right and my body sure as heck knows it is right and so it is that I am taking the turn in the road that is signposted RAW.

Ok, Christmas is just around the corner and on paper it is probably not the best time, but too be honest it wont be that difficult as the people we will be spending time with are well used to my 'weird' (their perception) eating habits . So I'm going for it, the shackles of cooked food are being released and I'm taking that turn and walking with confidence.

I'm going to be on here everyday journalling my progress and I'll try and get some photos up soon of me at the start of this.

Whoo hoo.....................I'm really excited at this development. Its been a long time coming...............

I'm glad to hear the way your mind is working. I've been doing something similar. This time I have been eating raw during the day and most nights having some warm vegetarian-vegan dinner and hot herbal tea. I just can't take being so cold all the live long day and ALL night too. I got some Noni juice today because I read that it is very warming. Maybe that will help. If not I may just have to stay on this road until summer.

And I've read that that is perfectly fine, that there are people whose constitutions are too cold in cold climates to go high raw all the time. I have willpower and I exercise. But there are days I have that chilled to the bone feeling no matter how many layers I have on and how much I'm running around. And that's when I have to have something to warm me up and I feel great then.

Keep us posted!

Thanks everyone for your support, its great to have that feeling that so many people are standing with you.

So in my head I have now made the turn (I even drew a picture in my journal of how that fork in the road looked!!) and I am now truly on my raw path. I feel that everything that has gone before over the last two years has been preparation to get me to this point.

It is great that it is Friday today as it means that after a yoga class and a private yoga session I have the rest of the day free so I can get to work on preparing some raw goodies to help me over the next few weeks.

Cece, I understand completely what you are saying about needing warming foods now the weather has turned colder. Here in the UK it has been really cold the last few weeks and we have had some really hard frosts and icy roads - me and Cinders (my car) have been having quite a time of it skidding around!! I make sure I stay well wrapped up, plenty of layers and hat, scarf, gloves when outside. I tend to use my dehyrator more in the colder months to warm food and using spices helps as well. I also use some warmer water in soups just to take the edge off and that really helps.

I'll post later on today as to how it went and what I ate. See's ya later................................

Hi Cece

Sorry to hear you're feeling the cold - it's perfectly miserable, isn't it?

Anyway, I thought you might be interested in this juice I made up yesterday - quite warming and absolutely delicious!

Kale (1 bunch)
Green Pepper (1)
Celery (2 sticks)
Garlic (1 clove)
Carrots (2 large)
Parsley (small handful)
Juice of 1 baby coconut
Cumin (1/2 tablespoon)

Enjoy! :-)

Congratulations, Helen, on making this decision for yourself. As others have said, it's so important to listen to one's body as it has a unique way of "knowing" what is right and what is needed.

GOOD LUCK!
