There area a couple of recipes on there I am going to try and see if I can find the ingredients. I get discouraged on doing a lot of raw un-cooking because I know that I can't afford it right now.
I went to the store today and I'm excited about how much raw stuff I bought for less than $60. It'll last for the next couple of weeks if not longer. That's definitely more than I should be spending, but considering I plan not to eat out or buy that other junk, I'm probably saving money.
To keep costs down, I'm sticking to a lot of simple stuff. Lots of green smoothies, fruits, salads, some cooked vegan dishes, like chili (I'm not 100%)... stuff like that. Although it's still a bit boring, it's better than no food :P I'm sure there are a lot more creative dishes out there mind you, that aren't overly costly.
Cool link. I've never thought of buying crates of oranges or carrots...some of the co-op houses do that, and it must really save them. maybe getting together with some other people to buy say a big crate of oranges or carrots would save in the long run. my roommate buys lots of stuff from sam's club (rice, nuts, vitamins) but I don't know if I trust their quality. i dunno...i've never been to one.
I think it interesting that so many "people who are studying" do stupid stuff like live off instant noodles and hot water etc., and yet BASIC healthy foodstuffs are so cheap......
It's neither cost effective as in $ for energy or $ for decent nutrition, and all the salt and crap in them......
This garbage students spout "Oh I could only afford to eat rice crackers"..... rice crackers here at the very cheapest are around $1.20 for a 100 gram pack, and yet a 700 gram loaf of bread costs $2....
Duh...... 4 loaves of bread, bag of apples, some cheese, lettuce, tomato., or 30 packs of instant noodles....
The next "stupid student" that snivels about poverty and being forced to spend their money on "stupid student" food, instead of growing a brain and going shopping - I shall make a voo-doo doll of and stick with pins...
After reading most of the comments left by most of the people here I hate this forum all ready.
