Hey, kimbopaloopa! Haha! Love your intro. What's your connection with raw? Meaning: are you raw? how much? what have you tried? what works/doesn't work for you with diabetes & diet...breathe :)

Hi, all! I can't believe I just now found this group. How exciting! I'm a T1 who's reversing 42 years of diabetes. They say that can't be done, but I'm doing it!

I work exclusively with diabetics to help them reverse their condition. My preference is to use raw foods (combined with exercise, supplements, etc.) to do it, but I have many clients who aren't willing to go raw. For them, we use a combination of dietary changes, supplements, and lifestyle changes.

Anyway ... I look forward to getting to know everyone here. I'm so glad I found this group! Have a blessed week!

Thanks, Angie~
I have noticed that the more greens I eat, the more I exercise, & as the lbs are beginning to come off, I am noticing my blood sugars coming down...
...I do not want to go on the meds, & am gearing up to do a green fast...juicing, smoothies, big honkin' salads! THAT should bring it down to normal...just waiting for shopping day...finally got Dr. Gabriel Cousin's book, have only had time to read about a third of it so far...anyone else working on applying his principles?
I'm hoping we can start up a study group on his book soon, as Bunny mentioned!

From what I've read, type 2s usually produce some insulin, but usually it is either not as much insulin as they used to produce, or they are insulin-resistant & don't use it efficiently, or it would be enough insulin for a healthy-weight body but it isn't enough now because of being overweight...I'm not sure if there's a way to test it, or if they just try a drug that is supposed to make you produce more and see if it works to lower blood sugar, and then if that doesn't work they try a medication that makes you use insulin more efficiently and see if that works, etc. Some people can control type 2 with just diet & exercise modifications, and some have to take insulin because the oral medications aren't enough. One doctor did tell me that even a 10-pound difference in weight can noticeably affect insulin sensitivity/resistance.

Thanks, guys...is there a way to find out specifically what the specific cause is for my particular type of diabetes? All I know is, it's type 2...I thought all type 2's still produced insulin, & only type 1's didn't...???

The thing about exercise making insulin work faster after meals would also depend on whether you are making plenty of insulin & just not using it efficiently, or if you are not making enough/any insulin, etc. Type 2 diabetes has lots of possible causes, so not every case will react the same way to the same treatment.

Exercise makes insulin work faster no matter which kind of diabetes you have, so if your body does produce some insulin, then it would make sense that exercising soon afterward would help that insulin go further. I hope you can find someone who will help/inform you better.
