I found a great blog post by Kristen's Raw about weightlifting & the raw diet.

So I'm getting serious about my training for my half marathon. I've been talking with a few different trainers, just to expore the idea of having a trainer support me in the process. As far as my diet is concerned, I know I will have to have more calories because I'll be training pretty hard. However, I'm not pleased with any of the trainers so far that I've talked to, because they are concerned that I want to use a veg approach. My plan is to really utilize my resources here and what other raw food & vegan athletes have done to educate myself & my trainer on how to do a marathon vegan! Because I know it can be done!

Raw food is King and excercise is Queen, stated to me by Kristopher Aaron a raw extreme athlete.

I know I eat a lot of fruit when I trained for my first half marathon, I drank green smoothies before and after each run long or short. I myself do not loose much weight. I would like like to, but I much on many greens, and I am a mommy, I am still eating the kids left over raw burgers. I stay quite fueled. I have lost 40 pounds this year so far. But the fruit smoothies and the greens smoothies keep me moving well.

Hi, I'm Emmy
I am training for the Tour De Palm Spring in Feb and the Rock and Roll 1/2 in Seattle in June. Eating raw helps so much with recovery and totally knocks out any inflamations for me. It is like night and day. My main goal is just to move it every single day for ever!

Hi Everyone, I just joined this group. I've been integrating exercise into my life by walking in the mornings. Since winter is just around the corner in Michigan, I've been concerned about increasing my circulation. Plus the morning energy is a nice boost to my day.

I'm excited to be a part of this group. I would love to work up to including more rigorous exercise. Nice to meet you all :)

Hi Mira, in my experience everything goes hand in hand, you're right to say that nothing beats a morning workout that energizes you for the whole day but the more raw you eat, the better the workout and quicker recovery..when I did 100% raw I found that I could run anytime without a warm-up and never felt tired afterwards.

Ooh, also -- any raw circus people aboard?

No disrespect meant to the raw food gods, but does anyone else find it matters less what they eat than how much they move? I'm transitioning to raw right now, and obviously it helps nutritionally, but I'm finding that *nothing* beats a good sweat. I have energy for the whole day after.( Add in some green juice, and it's like a crazy recipe for a natural high.)

But I've had days where I've been on raw food, and felt okay, maybe a little low on energy, and then I get a good workout in, and bam! My skin is glowing, my attitude is on a rapid incline. And it doesn't necessarily matter that I consumed that cup of coffee, or had something that wasn't 100% raw.
