Hi all you raw athletes!
I'm training for my first marathon ever in October. It's the Women's Nike in San Fran. I have been training for a month so far and am up to 6.5 miles (this past Sat.) I'm excited to see my body responding so quickly (getting stronger and more muscular). I am also still figuring out the food thing since it's so different when one is in training. Here's what I've found works so far: Don't eat 3 hours before bed if you are getting up to run the next morning. Fruit smoothies 2 hours before a run work well (banana and coconut water is my fave). Fruit smoothies after the run with Sun Warrior Protein and some L-glutamine is a new thing I am trying and so far so good.
I'm eating bananas again which I had sworn off of because they are so high in sugar. But when you are running a lot, the body just burns off those carbs so the body can handle the extra sugar. This is what I've gotten to so far.
Does anyone have any great food tips to share about running raw? P.S. buckwheat granola is waaaayyyyy too heavy for this body!
