Hi EVERYONE. First of all I want to introduce myself to this wonderful community. My name is Gabriela and I signed up for the mini holiday challenge but have been so inspired by you all that I started early and have now been raw for about 1 and 1/2 weeks. Anyway i didn't weigh myself at before I started but i weighed myself on saturday and I was at 208. Today I weighed myself again and it said 216 (eek!) It is that time of the month, but that can really account for 8 pounds?! Or am i doing raw all RAWong.
I'm working out about 4 times a week (either yoga or treadmill). And, I try to limit nuts to about a handful and eat about one avocado a day Is my fat intake maybe too high?
Anyway, thank you all for your help. I still feel wonderful although a little discouraged and feel very fortunate to have found this WONDERFUL community.
Hey there Gaby, I'm new to raw as well and I'm trying to shed some weight. A couple of things could be hindering your weight loss- Food combining and/or not "eliminating" regularly. Food combining is an important aspect of weight loss on this (or any) way of eating. Here's a website that might help you out, it's a food- combining chart : http://www.gardendome.com/food_combining.html. I've found that when my bowels are moving regularly, and I'm combining my food correctly I begin to lose weight. I hope I helped you out and good luck with your raw journey!
I know it sounds backward, because we've been trained to think that less fat in the diet equals less fat on our bodies, but it's not always true. I have to eat a lot MORE fat than you're eating in order to lose weight. And if you're bloated/retaining water from it, then the "time of the month" can definitely make a difference!
