I occasionally eat it out with real fish and rice. The real deal. But that's not raw (the rice) or vegan (the fish). On a regular basis, I make my own, just avocado, alfalfa sprouts, and some carrot or other veggie. No fish no rice. Raw and healthy. With ginger, wasabi, and shuyu it satisfies my taste for sushi. In fact, I wish my favorite restaurant would make it that way!

Could you possibly take a pic next time you make it? So I can get an idea of how you make it, that would be great !

I tend to stay away from the rice and go more for sashimi which is just fish, I'm not keen on white rice at all, even before I was a high raw eater I always tried to eat brown rice / pasta / bread......

I have just ordered Sashimi lol, I t should be here soon ! Maybe I will make it a monthly thing as opposed to a weekly thing !

Im off to google rawshi lol x

I eat raw sushi almost every day, I'm addicted! My two favorite fillings are a mock salmon filling and and an almond/ginger filling. Then I add in grated carrots, either pea, mung or alfalfa sprouts, avo, tomatoes, etc... I use a sushi mat to roll it up and they are perfect.
Add a little dish of wasabi paste and tamari and I'm all set. I even serve it on sushi platters with chopsticks. They look and taste great and it seems to satisfy my sushi urges.

In the past I have had it occasionally, and yes,I totally LOVED IT! especially when the fish is super fresh- up until I developed an intolerence to acidic foods. But you might want to educate yourself on the risks anyway as over the years, research has found an increase in worms and parasites that can be transmitted to humans from eating raw fish. I've read updated research in the papers, but the only one I found on the internet is an outdated one : http://www.nytimes.com/1981/09/30/garden/eating-raw-fish-the-danger...

so I guess its up to you! Hope this was helpful =D

Brilliant suggestions guys :)
I am so going to attempt creating raw sushi this weekend !

With regards to research, its funny you should mention it....normally I research everything down to the last details....Sushi however is very new to me, I briefly looked online yesterday.....my boyfriend has eaten sushi for years and seems to really benefit from it health wise...........although I don't think he would appriciate worms lol !!!

I'm laying of the fish for the time being I think :) I know I can get the same nutrients from things like walnuts and spinach :)

i am a sushi addict but i am not going to eat it any time soon. there are 2 reasons. first reason is because all meat raw or not doesn't have the 1 to 1 ratio of omega 6 to omega 3... all meat wild or not has way too much omega 6 and omega 6 is very inflammatory... considering i am battling inflammation... i'll be a 100% vegan until i am no longer battling inflammation... the second reason is pretty simple... all animals, people included have natural metibolic toxins and stuff that needs flushing from the body... in comparison, plants do not... so why i am not only being forced to detox, and eliminate my own toxins but do it for some other animal as well?... it just makes sense to me to not force your body to work harder then it has to. =^-^=

Sushi is my favorite food, and I have been trying to find a raw ways to make it. Im not a big fan of raw fish. For the rice I have heard that you can use cauliflower that has been in the food processor. I am going to have to look into that. OMG.. now I am craving sushi REALLY bad and I don't have the fillings for it

I spent a few years living in Japan growing up, so I've been eating Japanese food since I was little. I <3 sushi, but the rice is cooked so I don't eat it now. I also got into a bad habit of ordering the tempura sushi.HOwever, I'm going to try making some raw sushi (with carrot shavings instead of rice). i've been vegetarian for 13 years so I never ate the sashimi, just vegetable sushi so not much will change other then replacing the rice and minus the tempura batter. The gingers my fvorite part anyways hahaha.

I've always made sushi at home and that was my favorite. I used to fry up some tofu (OMG that was delish) and use carrots, cucumber, avocado, green onion and sushi rice. I'd add the ginger and tamari/soy sauce and garlic gomatsio (just garlic and sesame seeds).

I have never made raw sushi before, but I am craving it now!! So, I imagine I'll use all the same ingredients minus the rice and soy sauce. I have the raw wrappers and veggies, I just need to figure out what I can use instead of rice, since I can't stand cauliflower!

I don't know if this picture will work, but here is a tray of sushi that I made recently. No rice (or cauliflower) in sight! It's pretty yummy without. I use lots of grated carrots and sprouts with the mock salmon or tuna filling.

Wow, those look professional! I might have to try that. Where did you find the recipe for mock salmon/tuna?

I'd really like to try raw shushi. I LOVE sushi - but since I'm on a goal of eating as much raw as possible (and vegan/veg. the rest of the time) I'd find it hard to not have my fav salmon or tuna. I do love their tempura veggies - but of course those are friend not raw.
