Hey Bunny what has worked for me as far as fitness goes is registering for a future event such as a 5k, then that motivates me to get out there and walk. There's plenty of events that are walker friendly so how about a 5k 3 months from now or a half…

Thanks for posting this Bunny, for me it's anything salty or crunchy, once I start I can't stop. It's like I'm watching myself totally lose control and I can't do anything about it. I just finished Dr. Kessler's book and it really helped me be more…

Starting over

I started the challenge with a bang and then I got overwhelmed with everything else. My daughter got married two weeks ago, it was such a wonderful day, we all had a great time and have many wonderful memories. But the few weeks leading up to the wedding were chock full of painting, cleaning, shopping and assorted other things on the "to do" list. During that time my raw food consumption went out the window and I gained 4 pounds...boooo...but now I'm back and I'm starting over. I'll have to get… Continue

a non-raw foodist goes to a raw food restaurant

I was in Chicago a few weeks ago and went to Karyn’s, a raw food restaurant. I’ve posted the photos of the wonderful food I had there. But I thought I’d share the story that goes along with it because I think it’s priceless. This is why I’m a lucky woman.

Patrick the man I’m dating is your typical beer drinking, burger eating guy. We’re in a long distance relationship and talk every night. He’s listened to me go on and on about raw food since the first day of the challenge. He’s actually improv… Continue

My veggie adventure

I usually go to the local produce market a couple times a week, buying the same familiar things. But now that I've found Raw Fu I decided to expand my horizons. First of all, I have to tell you I live in a very small urban city of 2.2 square miles (surrounded by the City of Detroit) packed with about 22,000 people. About half of those people come from all over the world and speak English as a second language. It makes things interesting to say the least. So back to the veggie story....I walk int… Continue

Wow, it sounds like you had a blast in Chicago. That was some bike ride! Very impressive. Last time I was in Chicago we had planned to go to a raw restaurant but it had been so long since I was in America and all the food was so good that I just let the raw go out the window and we ate delicious food all over the city, I did bring home a mother load of raw things back with me! We never did make it to the the raw joint!
The rest of my family lives in Washington State and I don’t think they will make it to Chicago, I will not be in town for long. My family is all coming here in June for my son’s graduation.
I’m glad you are getting a little time to relax and get caught up on things for YOU and enjoy your lovely porch. I’ve been homeshcooling the kids for 5 years now. It has been an amazing journey for all of us. This year my son is going back to school for his last year. I just felt like there were too many things that I couldn’t provide him with his senor year and I didn’t want him to miss out. He seems to be enjoying it so far and settling in nicely. The girls and I are having fun in our all girls’ school this year too!
I love to read memoirs! I also really like to read stories about immigrants. Are you first generation in America? We had a Polish family that lived across from us in our first house. When they first moved in the mom and son could not speak any English. I loved the son, Kuba and had him at my house daily, he was in the 3rd grade when they moved to America. We have kept in touch through the years and now he is a grown man! They were a charming family to live by and I hold the fondest of memories about them.

My sister lives on Damen Ave. It is a beautiful neighborhood. I love Chicago! With any luck I will be there for Thanksgiving! I'll only be there for a short time and I'm not sure if my sister will share me but I would so love to meet at a raw joint for a meal. I have never been to a raw restaurant Now with all the work done I hope you have lots of time just for you! What are you reading now? I just started reading What is What by Dave Eggers. I can't put it down. I have to limit my personal reading time with home school or I have too much trouble getting up in the morning!

I hope you will post a photo of your freshly painted porch! I'd love to see it! I wish you a happy wedding celebration and blissful love for the new couple. My husband and I just celebrated our 20th anniversary!
I love the fall too, love the clean fresh start! Most of my goals have been set in September even when I was a child.
Summer is still my favorite season though, or maybe spring, no winter, yes fall is a favorite time of year too!

Hi Alice! I left you that recipe over in the forum. I'd leave out the extra drizzle of olive oil and the garnish of mac nuts. I didn't care for those.
