You're gonna hate this answer, but the best way to find out is to eat a raw diet of 1,200 calories and see what happens to you. The basic science is"calories in, calories out," meaning that if you consume 1200 calories, you've consumed 1200 calori...

Great to see such wonderful support here!! You are right, it does take a different kind of support to lose over 100 or 200+ lbs. I love eating raw for health and weight loss, but I'm such a food addict that when I'm going through stress, I can't s...

I've always been around 97.2 to 97.6. Unless you've recorded your temperature first thing in the morning over the past 6 years, though, you won't have enough info to say that your temperature has gone down. Walking around, digesting meals and othe...

My hobby is my garden, which I started, in part, to supply myself with fresh, organic raw foods at a lower cost. Everything is now coming up and my room mate and I are so excited! We have six beds total. The picture of the individual plants shows ...

I noticed my hair thinning, which frightened the hell out of me. I've since learned that I am sensitive to the goitrogenic vegetables which comprised a large percentage of my all-raw diet - a common problem for people with the thyroid problems I l...

I have been on the path to greater spirituality and diminished materialism for the past 10 years. Learning about Buddhism was a big help in that it taught me the concept of holding on to things, and the problems caused by giving possessions and st...

Unless you grow your own foods (something you might want to consider for the future!) I'm not sure how you would maintain your access to fresh, raw foods under non-perishable conditions. You'd have to freeze or dehydrate, which of course means the...

Allison,

Happy New Year to Ya! I am glad you have made it a vow to stick with the raw food lifestyle. You are not alone. I too, have made the same vow. Cashew Larabars are my last hurdle.

Larabars aren't organic and cashews aren't raw. They are heat treated, etc., so they aren't safe to eat. They have to be heated because they are very toxic when picked from the plant they come from.

I am happy you have come through your caffeine detox OK. I know that can be rough. I went through the coffee detox several years ago when I quit. I also, put tons of sugar in my coffee which was another reason I had to quit. Bad stuff.

I love your website! It is very iniformative. I am learning a lot. Thanks for sharing. Hey, do stay in touch. I look forward to hearing from you. Peace.

With love,
Peter Love

Sometimes because my family is there, but thats why its nice to be out here in CA because it's only a 4 hour drive away.... I'm thinking of moving to seattle though, cleaner air and a growing raw community it seems. There may even be the opportunity to have a raw business there or something. :-)

Hi Allison! =^..^=

I popped over to your blog and was floored by your words of the journey you are on. Your honesty. The beauty of simplicity. I was so happy to read of another with similar views that less can be more, and that raw can be simple.

What a fabulous bit of yourself you have shared!
What are you studying in grad school? (just curious)
=^..^= love, zU

Raw Fu Day One

I had a good Day One of Raw Fu. :-) Breakfast was fresh fruit that I bought at a grocery store on the way to work. Lunch was a business meeting at a restaurant- always a minor challenge, at least. I chose iced tea and found the Cobb salad, minus the bacon, to be the healthiest choice. The few non-raw items on the salad were in small amounts, so I felt fine. I avoided my usual soda and my coffee with cream today. No caffeine headache yet!! We'll see what happens with the withdrawal over the weeke… Continue
