I don't eat that much cacao now, but I sometimes did when I first ate it years ago - and I HAD BEEN low on magnesium. I can now take it or leave it as my body needs, but I find that agave is very addicting for me. I'm fine having a shake made with n…

Ultimate Superfoods is the brand I've been using, too - it's the best one I've ever tried. I've never tried the new truly raw one. Nuts are the same way - they may get heated for shelling, but it isn't a hot enough temperature to ruin the quality of…

Yes, this has been talked about for years but never really exposed this way before. Now ELF has found a supplier in Bali for "truly raw" cacao and they will be selling that one. And I have also heard that it doesn't taste very good. If you want to e…

Exactly! It was about examples - kind of a random side conversation. The reason I mentioned it (which I didn't say clearly enough, perhaps) is that I believe there are all kinds of health issues underlying weight, and it's not just about the number…

Interesting! I don't know if I'll be eating ANY figs now...weird how I can eat a piece of meat but can't stand the thought of bugs or larvae in my fruit. :S

Okay, now I'm seriously drooling! :D

One of THOSE days...and the power of greens!

Today was one of THOSE days: super tired, lots of stressful stuff happening, had to throw away four bunches of kale because they were filled with tons of little bugs that wouldn't wash off, lemon juice in the cut on my finger driving me crazy, cooking stuff for other people that I wasn't going to eat, had lots of stuff to do & no energy to do it, wanted greens all day but was too tired to go to the store - just basically getting mad/sad/fustrated at almost everything...

My family went out t… Continue

Pondering: career, learning, helping people...

I've been pondering a lot lately on the direction I want my life & career to go. I am finishing the certification process to become a Holistic Health Coach (thank you to everyone who is helping me by being volunteer clients!). As my certification gets closer to being a reality, I have been pondering on some things: how my life path has changed so dramatically - over the years AND over the last few months, how being diabetic has led me to learn so much about natural approaches to wellness, ho… Continue

Holiday Time & Emotional Eating

I have recently realized that in the past, I ate to make up for a lack of joy/connection at holiday time & get-togethers. I stuffed myself silly at every single party or evening out. Even after going raw, I would spend hours of prep time & loads of money to make raw versions of whatever everyone else was eating in order to try to feel like I wasn't different: raw lettuce leaf tacos when the family got together for a taco night, raw cranberry relish at Thanksgiving (and I never really eve… Continue

I'm Sad

I have recently faced the fact that my blood sugar levels have been out of control the majority of the time ever since I started using agave. Now I am just sad, wondering what my health might be like if I had never tried agave 4 years ago. I know I've learned from the experience, and I know I can go forward from here, and a million other positive things that I'm sure will come to me later. Right now, I'm just sad.

My "New" Diet

I am a type 1 diabetic & have been raw most of the last 4 1/2 years. I have had a lot of problems with insulin resistance (which isn't normally a type 1 issue) & other health challenges in those years (although some of the health issues existed before that, too). Not only have I had health problems, but in the last year and a half (since I was hospitalized for complications of diabetes), I have put on almost as much weight as I lost in the first three months of eating raw. Weird. Anyhow,… Continue

I am so glad people are liking the relationship video series. I was really scared to post this aspect of my life, but I really feel it will empower me in the end.
