You are so lucky to have such an abundance of strawberries....:) My mouth fell open at the decadence of either juicing or dehydrating them! I love strawberries but they are always so expensive here that I never have the chance to accumulate a surp...

Good morning all and happy first day of Peas on Earth Challenge. This morning I juiced: 1 head romaine lettuce, 2 apples, 2 carrots, 1/2 pineapple, 2 celery stalks and a banana. Nope the banana didn't juice too well, but I was curious. It made 32 oz and I haven't been hungry since. Have been dehydrating cookies and crackers since 8 am in between loads of wash. Had a cold front go thru last nite and it's down from 80 to 54. Had to get down my sweatshirts. Have been checking in on my WII Fit Board every afternoon when get home from work. Work became very depressing. They laid off the other 2 girls in my office and one in purchasing. Now it's 3 guys and me against all the phone calls and questions each day. Had a chili cook off Thur. and I made the Melissa's Autumn Chi-Lee for my entry (from Carol Alt's book). It didn't place, but the pan had about 2 cups left at the end of the day compared to 20 cups to start. Everyone started out curious and wound up eating the whole bowlful. Change the company one person at a time. Also brought the Death by Chocolate cookie and they went fast!

Hemp Seed

I don't know if you know, I am a retired truck driver. 18 wheeler, cross country, gear jamming trucker. I still have my CDL license with tanker and hazard material endorsement on the back so I can help friends out when they're tired and "going to the valley" on weekends and need a helping hand. Because of this I am subject to random drug test any time. My daughter brought up the question about hemp oil, hemp seed etc being in the marijuana family and causing the drug test to go off the meter aga… Continue

I'm not a nutrionist! HELP!!

I joined a health club, as my company is paying half. That was yesterday. Today I met with trainer and he showed me the ropes and how to do the machines & inquired about my eating habits, as I signed up Tue morning with a green smoothie in my hand on way to work. I replied I'm still transitioning to 100% raw. He said he wanted me to speak to the nutritionist before I leave. She informed me I was loosing a lot of amino acids in the exercise and need to take a multiple vitamin to replace them,… Continue

I'm Baaaack!!

Oh my gosh, I couldn't believe a darn credit card could cause so much trouble!! They kept upping the interest after son had them for 20 years and they promised to reduce and it went back up and he told them what to do with it and poof the payment for internet was stopped! Between paychecks no less, so I had to wait 2 weeks to pay from my card. That was the bad news. The good news, I'm starting over on my raw food, as I fell bad when on my own and no one to read nor chat back to, for courage or t… Continue

Making Raw Page

I am trying to make my own raw page on the internet, so this company is helping me. http://www.wealthyaffiliate.com/?a_aid=gSUBySHW and so far I am amazed at what I have learned. I am so excited! I will be able to, like everyone else, tell people how great eating raw is and all the possible benefits from it.
Wish me luck

Ann, thanks so much for the comment on my guac! Here's an estimated recipe for my guacamole:

I make salsa first, and then stir in fresh salsa/pico de gallo...

Salsa:
5 ripe tomatoes, medium-large size
1 white onion, small-medium size
1 tsp. minced garlic
1/2 cup fresh cilantro, not packed
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
1/4 fresh jalepeno pepper, more if you like it mild-hot
Sea salt/himalayan salt to taste

Dice all ingredients except jalepeno, you'll want those minced :) After everything is diced and prepped, you'll want to put it in a mixing bowl and slowly add in the salt.

Now you can pull out the avocados.

You'll need about 5 avocados, if I'm remembering correctly.

Mash all the avocados. Slowly add in the salsa. Be sure to add it in with a spoon, as opposed to pouring it in. The idea is to get the solids of the salsa (tomatoes, onions, etc.) rather than the juice. A little juice is good, but too much will make your guac runny.

Add however much salsa meets your liking. Add more salt to your liking, since you've added 5 avocados to the mix. Mix well.

That's the guacamole!!

For the veggies, I LOVE slicing up red and orange bellpeppers and slices of cucumber...such a perfect summertime snack :)

I hope you and your grandkids enjoy the recipe!

Juice feasting is when you drink only juice for a period of time. Kind of a take on "fasting," but since you're ingesting a form of food, and I assume so people feel less deprived, it's been named "feasting."

Hi Ann - how long did you live in Pacific Grove? Do you have the chance to visit your ol' home grounds, sometimes? I have lived in this town for 20 years and watched it go through lots of changes - raised my son here .... Lately, I hear, "raw foodists" are no longer an unknown ... even have a 'rawluck' meetup group set up, tho it is not active really. But, I trust, in time, it will be.
Take care,
Sharon

Ann,

I do plan on singing my song, "Madam Bunny Berry," soon. I need to record it and mix it to CD. I wrote the song during the middle of the night at the piano. That's as far as I got with it.

At the moment I am involved with multiple musical projects, but have made this a priority for Bunny's sake.

Thanks for the compliment. :-)

With love,

Hi Ann, sorry I got you confused for someone else you are from the US, thanks for writing to me, it was very nice to hear from you. Yes I absolutely love my garden but I am broading on obessive. I get a bit envious as in the US you seem to have many greens that we don't have in Australia, so many I have never heard of, I had never heard of kale until this year!! It has taken me many months but now I have kale growing in my garden!

How are you going on your raw journey? I find everything but night meals easy as my family are happy to eat raw but for the night meal, which really I think is just fantastic. My son came home from school camp today I had a big salad on the table and the first thing he said was "Oh wow a salad!" He was very happy he really missed the raw food he said, I am so proud. xxx

Hi, Ann -- welcome to Raw Fu! I just looked up Marion on Google Maps... you're not that far. Austin does have a raw/vegan foods bar at the downtown Whole Foods, and they always have a raw entree and quite a few raw dishes in their display case that you can get takeout, but it's not all raw. There is a terrific raw juice and smoothie bar called the Daily Juice on Barton Springs road that is fantastic. And there are 2-3 other places around town that have some raw foods on the menu. Any time you want to come up and share a raw lunch or dinner, let me know! There are also two raw food potluck groups in town, but I've never been. Let me know if you'd like info on those.

It's great to read about all the raw food you're preparing. Very inspiring! I'm going to go look up that Carol Alt chi-lee recipe. Yesterday I went on a cleaning tear and gathered all my raw cookbooks in one bookshelf right next to my kitchen table. I have more than I realized...
