There is no problem with healthy raw additions. Now if you add garbage like Muscle Builder 6000 or some thing, then you get into problems. But I even add ground up flax atop mine and mmmmm-good! Huzzah to adding maca and goji or even raw cacao! Da...

Angela Stokes books were my intro to raw. Her story and process is not about gadgets or percentages. And a HUGE inspiration. The other book was Dr. Neal Barnard's Diabetes Reversal book and a showing of the Raw 30 Days dvd. It was a group of peopl...

Um yeah wasn't that a disgusting tidbit about the poultry litter? And yet I still go to my friends and eat meat - I never feel good afterward. Ugh, need to stop.

That's cool about the blog - I just started it and it's pretty lonely. Maybe I'll do a post of Raw elitism.

Basically when I say 'raw foods' I just get a blank stare or vague distaste but I see people who are taking meds and having problems and I wish i had some common sense resources for them to make some basic diet improvements. I am trying to help my spiritual mom who is diabetic and has numerous problems.

Sounds awesome. Feel free to send anything you want to review my way. Since people have eaten raw, whole unprocessed food for centuries it shouldn't have to be some kind of chi chi elitist deal.

Farmers markets, wild edibles and growing one's own produce seem like simple and cost effective ways to get started. And not forcing people to go 100% raw because then you have to buy super expensive raw alternatives to more commonplace ingredients. Like I was thinking if you had recipes you could have a hierarchy. If all they had on hand was table salt, fine, next would be sea salt, and best options would be the celtic or himalayan if they were that invested in raw. That way they don't feel that they need to spend $5 on salt in order to do the recipe.

Feel free to message me. I live in the midwest and deal a lot with more traditional types + people in my church. They would definitely not respond to the exotic food snob stuff. I have my 'spiritual mom' on green smoothies - she has a very traditional diet and limited budget/access so this is all new to her but she studied Victoria Boutenko's book and really liked it. I have to spoon feed her this stuff and bring her 'supplies'.

I think some kind of book or cookbook geared toward average people that allows them to incorporate more raw into their diet w/o forcing them to jump onto the raw subculture is much needed. I mean there are millions of people who don't even have a health food store or organics within reasonable distance. Or they have kids to feed and can't fathom spending $20 on a bag of cacao. I could afford to jump in to this cause I'm single and have a good job but not everyone is in that situation.

Hey I'm praying things will get better for you. Having to eat not so great food to save $$$ can be a real bummer.
