Hey,
I'm glad you borught this up. It's something that's been going through my head alot too. I'm a college student so opbviously there's some pressure to eat junk the rest of college kids, but recently I've been talking myself out of raw for othe...

mate and apple cider vinegar. Strangest combination, I know but apple cider vinegar is really, really good for enoergy so you can use that as part of salad dressings and mate will help 10 times more than coffee and make you more clear-headed as op...
I'm here for who knows how many reasons. I want to be there to support people who want to make a positive change for health in their lives, but at the same time I need people who ar like-minded to keep me going. I come from a highly critical, hera...
Oh nooooooo, I am just as stressed as you. I am sorry that you're feeling the strain, though. Bc I know just how much it sucks. And I really don't want anyone else feeling like this.
I fell off the raw-boat for a good couple weeks. But I am back. Because I realized just how shitty everything here is for you. And I am slowly readjusting.
I teach a yoga class every day. I have a bitch load of classes, and being an RA kills. But I figure... I'm not dead yet, I am eating right... I can do it.
Your schedule sounds crazy. I'm glad you got out of the cafe, though. Where are you working now? I hope it isn't much harder. And what about oyur courses? Do send me a message to fill me in. I want to know whats up! :]
And don't worry about the wedding, or the party. Just stick to your guns. Think of how far you've come. Is wedding food, or a party worth throwing it away? And if your fam is hyper critical.. I'm sorry. That is not at all fair for you. I know you can withstand a little bump here or there, though. I mean, look at the stuff you're juggling at school. Pardon the metphor, but the wedding/party will be a piece of cake in comparison.
Like I said, do message me and fill me in. I'm always here for you!!

Kinda strange for me too! I stayed up until 5:30a last night! I just wasn't tired. It's not because I had a bunch of energy from raw foods though, because I didn't stay very raw over the weekend. But it did make it hard for me to get to my 9:30a class this morning!
Hi there Kelsey! Just saw your post about reading SFDSS as a group. Please do follow along with us and ask any questions you might have. My idea if this goes well is to read other raw books...like 12 steps to Raw by Victoria Boutenko...maybe even review raw uncook books by making tons of recipes together! Please join in at anytime. Your input is valued greatly! peace, Tiffany
There's really no challenge to staying raw in ontario. we have the niagara green belt here with loads of fresh fruits and veggies. There's also grocery stores galore. I haven't lived through the winter raw yet, though. But, surprisingly, it really isn't cold all the time. Don't get me wrong, when it's cold, it's freezing. at the worst point (especially up north), it can reach -30 celsuis. But for the most part, our summer is gorgeous, and spring/fall are really nice.
Thanks for the comment about the before pics.
I just really want to be happy in my skin, you know. I'm down to 129 right now (135 when the pics were taken), and i feel much better about myself. Raw is the way to go
Being raw in kenya was ridiculously easy because i had all of my meals made for me. it's definitely much harder being home. There's much more temptation here. But i'm back into my routine, and it's going well!
How's the challenge going for you?
Hey Kelsey!
Sorry i haven't replied sooner. I've been in kenya for the last 4 weeks ish. It was an amazing trip!
Anyways, to answer your question about the job market in Ontario, it depends on what kind of past job experiences you have, and what kind of job you're looking for. minimum wage is at $8.75 right now. Depending on how much you're wanting to make, the more experience, the better.
As for apartment prices, i can only speak for hamilton and toronto. Hamilton's prices are very decent, but they also depend on what area of the city one chooses. upper hamilton is a tad more expensive, but worth the extra cost. most apartments range from 300-800 (you pay for better quality). Toronto is astronomically high, and not even worth considering.
Public transportation, where i live, is fabulous. Unfortunately, the closer you live to the city, the more buses to choose from. the rate for the city bus is 2.40 per ride, and you receive a transfer that is valid for 2 hours. You can also buy a monthly bus pass ($55 for students, $75 for adults). There are buses that travel all over ontario too, with a wide range of prices.
I hope that helps!
Hahaha. Your fam sounds as neurotic as mine. And I work two jobs too.
Thus far, school has been alright. I have just been training to be an RA, so no classes yet. But the food.... Blegh. Im not even going to go into it. But I survived, and hopefully, I am making another shoprite run today.
However, I managed to get fruit flies... Not too excited about that. I am way pissed, in fact. Do you have any ideas on how to get rid of them?? I would so appreciate it. I've tried so many different things, I'm going absolutely batty! LoL
Once classes start on Tuesday, I'll be a bit stretched on time. But in any case, I am majoring in both Journalism and Middle Eastern Studies. And minoring in communications. wooo. I have the feeling, I might be on the 5 year plan :/ I'm not too excited about it, but oh well, what are you going to do?
Well, thus far, I realized that including one or two cooked things in my day is the way for me to successfully transition. I'm taking it as the days come. Some are a lot better than others. But so long as I am comfortable, then I count it as a success.
My teeth are healing right on schedule. If not ahead of time. I went in for my checkup, and the surgeon said that I am all cleaned up and doing great. I attribute it to the health from my raw food diet :] It's great. If you stick with raw, I'm sure your surgery will be great, just like mine. That is, if you even need one.
I'm moving back into college on Monday. I'm excited. I think that once I'm away from my old setting, and in an ew one, I can create the "raw lifestyle" that I want. I'm sure it will provide its own set of troubles. But I'm excited for it nonetheless.
How has your week been? Have you faired well? Any difficulties, or newfound enlightenment?
As for recipes, I tried out chips among other things. But I havent found my niche yet. LoL. I did, however, make a raw nut trailmix that was great. Simple, but good.
Do let me know how you're doing! Talk again soon,
-Andy
Peace, Love, and Well Being
I've been vegetarian fr about 7 years and vegan for 6 months. My family recently went raw and I'm really curious about it and would love ot learn more. I'd also like to meet more people who share the same ideas, opinions, and values I do.
