Thank you Kimberly for the add and wow I love your fruit and veggie chart!!! Rawsome!!!

I am definitely going to try out your grapefruit and greens salad, as well as your poma/orange/apple juice! I've never juiced, or even bought a pomegranate before, so I can't wait to taste that, am headed out to the farmers market now in fact. YUM!

Hi--Sounds like it's probably just the ripeness of the bananas, then. As to food combining, though, we can usually get away with a lot in the beginning and as we transition, but if we're having trouble, sometimes changing the combinations of what we're eating or eating certain things alone, helps. Basically, for our purposes, there are main categories of melons, sweet fruits (bananas, dates, persimmons, maybe papayas), sub-acid fruits (apples, pears, some berries), acid fruits (citrus, some berries, tomatoes), non-sweet fruits (cucumber, zucchini), starchy veggies (broccoli, cabbage), leafy greens/celery, and fats (nuts, avocadoes, coconuts). It has to do with the water content and how long they take to digest. Melons are best alone. Leafy greens and celery go with anything. Sweet fruits go best with each other, and are usually ok with sub-acids, but don't combine as well with acids or fats. Sub-acids and acids are usually fine with each other, and ok with veggies and fats. That said, I wouldn't worry about it unless you are having some symptoms, then you might consider changing the combinations of your meals or leaving more time between certain types of foods. I seem to do fine with bananas and almond milk, but not bananas and oranges. We're all at different stages of sensitivity and healing, and we all need different things to keep us satisfied in transition.

Hey Kimberly, Just a couple comments on bananas causing gas (since they can be such a great, economical source of yummy calories!)...are they ripe enough (plenty of spots/not green at all)? And are you combining them with acid fruits or fats? Certain combinations can bother certain people at certain stages of transition. Let me know if you want more info on food combining. Take care. I mentioned growing sprouts because they are so inexpensive yet can be filling and so good for you.

Kimberly, just wanted to give you some love and support....and echo Penni's coment to you as I totally relate to what you said about feeling like you are spending so much money on food for you, and also trying to lose weight and watching it stall and get so frustrating and crazy making. You would think it would be easy to lose just 2 pounds a week.... or even just 1 pound a week....but it is not. At least not for me. So please, don't give up on raw, do what you can, and if you grow your own sprouts you will have lots of very healthy greens/sprouts that are filling and so very good for you. (I say this...but don't yet do it.....one of those things I need to do myself. Be good to you and best of luck with everything....

Kimberly,

Thanks for referring me to the 80/10/10 group to find low fat recipes for my no overt fat diet. I am familiar with this group, but forgot all about them. I truly appreciate your help. Thanks a million.
