I love fennel too. I get it at the University District farmer's market. I juiced some with cucumber, celery, and spinach. Also great sliced thinly in a salad of mixed lettuces and yellow tomatoes.

Raw bell peppers don't work for me, but cooked are fine, and dehydrated might be OK. Other foods that I have problems with are raw garlic, and maca powder. Try fewer ingredients in your salads, and isolate the culprit.

Bunny: I add lemon to my green juices and cucumber if I have any. Lemon will make anything taste good!

Does the collard juice taste good? Collards are PLENTIFUL all winter here in the South. I bet it would taste good juiced with apples. And thanks for the tip about doing them in the blender. Now I don't have to learn the hard way!

I have hot tea on cold days even when I am doing all raw. Adding more fruit or coconut so that you aren't starving could help too.

I juiced a pomegranate too. Sliced it in half and pressed it down into the citrus juicer. Added lemon juice and shared with a friend.

This sounds wonderful. What works for me is to avoid limiting quantity. If you get hungry between meals, having more smoothie isn't going to interfere with progress.

Love the Collards

Is it possible to juice collard greens?

Yes!

But the centrifugal juicer doesn't get the most out of them, so the pulp goes into the blender with water. Then I press it through a sieve using the back of a wooden spoon.

Tossing out the fibrous pulp, I add the green liquid to cucumber juice, lemon juice, and celery juice - the juicer does a great job on those.

My just juicing lasted five days, but then there was some rebound over-snacking. Now making sure to have substantial solids every day as… Continue

Juice- Day 4

I'm still mini-juice-feasting. I like the sweet combination of carrot, ginger, and lemon, and I like to make totally green juices. Yesterday I was surprised at how satisfying spinach-cucumber juice was. It got me through a few hours when I might have had the coffee and cookies which were set out at a meeting. I'm not being absolutist about this plan, every day includes a little bit of solid food too. Friday, I had lettuce with no dressing. Sunday night, I ate some of the pineapple and juiced the… Continue

Mini Juice Feast

I'm doing a few juice days. Leaving the number of days open. What worked yesterday was lots of juice early and late, and some Romaine lettuce to crunch on at lunchtime. I like my food to be bright colors: nothing brown unless it is chocolate! So I make separate recipes with color in mind. Current favorites:

1. Carrot-apple-lemon-ginger, (yellow bell pepper, cucumber, or pear make good additions.)

2. Spinach-apple-cucumber

Tomorrow I'm going to add fennel to the green spinach mixture.

Shoppi… Continue

Corn Salad

I'm juicing again. Hello juice machine, it's been awhile! I do carrot juice with lemon and ginger, and sometimes cucumber. I do apple juice with other fruits mixed in.

Just made salad for a potluck dinner (with non-raw folks.) Fresh corn cut off of the cob, chopped tomatoes and green pepper into kernel size, cayenne and salt.

Thanks very much for the love on my vid and thanx for the welcome. I am loving this experience. I wish I had've started when I joined back in January! I would be where Lowanna is now 110 lbs lighter! Much love.

Thanks so much for the advice! Too bad for me I didn't see it until this morning. hahaha But I appreciate it none-the-less! I am amazed I didn't come home after my night out and raid the kitchen. I was surprisingly not hungry and just went to sleep. SO YAY for that. :) A good time was had by all and I didn't eat any junk.

Priss,

Oops! I goofed! I accidentally deleted the hair loss discussion with all the wonderful and much-appreciated advice from you and others! :-(

Your advice sounds right too, and consistent with what many have shared: heavier, warmer, and more colorful foods.

Maybe we'll do another hair loss discussion at some point. It's really nice to have so many shared perspectives and such warm support.

Thanks again. :-)

Hi Priss,
Thanks for the heaache ideas. Yeah, it was a bad decision to combine the caffeine, sugar and tylenol. Probably bad timing. I probably underestimated the amount of sugar in that iced vanilla coffee. But, I'm prone to migraines and headaches anyway. The slightest change in routine can trigger one. I'm usually very careful, but just caught off guard this time.

I enjoyed watching you guys the recent Seattle meet-up video. I wish I had a raw restaurant nearby.

You're right--I have tried things I wouldn't have thought I'd like and liked them. And I did make a carob-avocado-date pudding (a long time ago) that wasn't bad. Who knows...?? :-)

Hi Priss,

Thanks for adding me as a friend. I watched the Seattle RawFu meetup video and it looked fun--I'm sorry I missed it! Did Chaco have their raw chocolate bars that day? I had one a few weeks ago and it was awesome but evil. I was up all night. I haven't had any cacao or chocolate in probably 2 wks. now. I was a major chocoholic.
