So excited it is day 2!
I am starting with you all first thing in the morning- i fell off the wagon a little while doing my Medical ICU rotation, with 30 hour shifts every 2 and a half days your body really starts to forget ...
I made a green smoothie with banana, blueberries, lettuce and spinach. At noon I felt like I needed something savory but was knee deep in cleaning my sewing/office/storage room so I quickly made a green soup. An hour ago I just needed a piece of f...

Yeah the birds love sunflower seeds. It seems as though some of them germinated, so that's pretty cool. Maybe I'll have flowers before the fall :-)
Kale is great with just about anything creamy... like if you want savory kale, you can add some fa...
Hey Rachel! Thanks for the props on my guns! I'm on my final week of P90X now..I'd say it's a releif but, I plan to continue doing it even after the 90 days to maintain the gunnage! *lol* I feel the same way, protein is WAY overhyped and excessive protein consumption can be far worse than lackin' a lil bit, from what I've been hearing. For myself I upped my green intake a bit, and especially mixed greens with my nutmylk smoothies. The theory behind it is that the raw fats aid in the assimilation of the amino acids in the greens! And greens actually taste pretty good in a vanilla smoothie (check out my "Green Vanilla Bean Shake" recipe video on my youtube channel, via my website www.rawdawgrory.com)! The Sun Warrior protein powder is a great smoothie addition as well, Dr Brian Clement of Hippocrates Health Institute did a presentation at the raw vegan cafe I'm working at and he even gave it big thumbs up (and he's not a superfood supplement kinda guy!). Oh and I gotta say I was crackin' up when ya said "Tony Horton is a little annoying" LOL! I find myself talking back to the tv at times doing the workouts. *lol* Thanks again so much for the props and encouragement! Best wishes to you and your fiance on "Gettin' all X-like!" :0)
Thanks for your comments! I just do hatha yoga, and I am trying to get 30 minutes in a day. Today I took a class, and I managed a new pose, not that i cna remember the name, but it is nice to be like oh wow, look at what my body can do now!
No, never. I didn't realise you could put ginger through the juice. How much would you use? And will lemons & limes would if you chuck them in with the peel on? So what juice combination are you have? Do you think it's ok to make a whole batch of juice in the morning for the rest of the day or don't you think that'd be 'fresh' enough? I am SO pumped about getting started. How are you going with it?
Just passed June and guess what- 1 year of raw! WOW! This has been the best year ever! I struggled (as most do!) with staying raw at certain times of the year (Christmas time and a month away from home were the worst), but I am here as proof that determination pays off! Raw is the best thing to have ever happened to me (besides meeting my amazing husband of course). I was 100% raw for about 40 days of the challenge which began on 4/14/09. Then I went to Europe for a month- was as raw as I could be, but nowhere near what I'd want to be, then moved and began a demanding job (I'm a medical resident at Hopkins), and am still trying to get back to very high raw. My biggest challenges have been finding the time each day to prepare my raw foods, remember each time I reach for foods which are not raw exactly why I completely prefer to be raw, identifying stress and sleep-deprivation secondary to the hours of my new job as subconciously pulling me toward non-raw foods, and making the time to work-out each day so that I have higher energy. This current challenge, 8/09-11/09, is the one I will be most heavily involved with as I want to be 95-100% raw again. Love you all and am proud to be here with you :) We are doing something amazing for ourselves and our bodies thank us with each bite!
