Bunny, although I don't feel like I am a food addict, I believe that I have moved more toward sugar also in a reaction to turning raw. I am not 100% raw but I feel like I eat mostly sugar. I have been writing down what I eat for the last week for ...

Thanks everyone! Wow I am learning a lot. So in my salads most of the time and today is usually, sprouts, kale/spinach, onion, cucumber or zucchini, and something red either tomatoes or red peppers, and then either avocado or nuts. The nutritiona...

I eat huge salads & love them. I just have to make sure I have lemon juice & plenty of fat in my salad. Tougher greens like kale (& grass) can't be broken down enough by chewing, though, so that's where the cow has an advantage. Heehee! :) If I ea...

In David Wolfe's book "Eating For Beauty" he says that a lot of people don't produce enough hydrochloric acid to digest greens, especially when we first go raw. He recommends fresh lemon juice before (in water) and/or with a salad (use in the dres...

Eat smaller salads. Chew slower and more thoroughly. The thing is, if you put a lot of hard to digest whole plant fiber/ cellulose into your stomach, you are going to end up with incomplete digestion. Cows have a rumen for a reason. We don't. So e...

Raw bell peppers don't work for me, but cooked are fine, and dehydrated might be OK. Other foods that I have problems with are raw garlic, and maca powder. Try fewer ingredients in your salads, and isolate the culprit.

Hmmm, tell us what you're putting in your salads. Something in there might be a particularly gassy food. Sorry, I don't like nutritional yeast, so I can help you on that one. But if you''re putting it on your salad. It might be the culprit. What...

So I have been eating more raw for a while. I focus on salads most often. I have been eating at least one to two salads a day and after about 4 hours I am hit with crazy gas and bloating. Usually I am at work and can't just go around farting every...

At home with the family and staying raw...#3

I didn't write yesterday but so far things have been really awesome here visiting the family. Yesterday I stayed home most of the day. I did a workout under the sun in my parents backyard. I had plans that night to go see my friend Valeria sing with her band. Her band was playing at a farmers market! How random and convienent for me. It was an hour and a half away but worth it. When I go there I saw a guy making smoothies with a vita-mixand it turned out to be Glen Colello with Catch a Healthy H… Continue

At home with the family and staying raw...#2

So today was great! I got up in the morning and got some exercise in. After a long discussion this morning with my parents about health we went to Whole Foods and got some great stuff. I got greens, veggies, almonds, avocados, apples, plums, organic food bars. As we were leaving my mom had grabbed all her green bags and put their groceries in them which was cool I took a picture of them. It made my parents laugh, but I was like a kid in a candy store.
We went to the lake house that my parents ar… Continue

At home with the family and staying raw...#1

It is my first night being here in Connecticut. I am a little jet-lagged so I am gonna keep this short. My parents picked me up from the airport and it was great to see them. Within about 20 minutes they asked me something about what I will be eating during the trip. My mom asked me if I wanted to go grocery shopping and I said, "YES!" We are going to Whole Foods tomorrow and I am excited. I hear they have a raw section! We went and picked up a few things tonite and I made myself a salad when we… Continue

I like your pix too! I really love the one of you in that hillside field of blooming elecampane! I would LOVE to discover that wild herb in my "backyard". We don't live too far apart...I am in SW Oregon and the mild climate makes for great gardening. When we bought our land 12 yrs ago all I wanted to do and still do is grow my own food...It takes a large space! Thanks for your nice comment.

Hi Rebecca! Yes, I do a lot of weight lifting and I love it! Thanks for asking.
I'm trying my hand right now at a hybrid between 80/10/10 and traditional raw. Works well with the weights.

Happy Days to you!

hi there, thanx for asking and i hope you're doing good ... sorry for the late repyl, i haven't been online for quite a good amount of days now, still i have been raw, but not a 100% anymore. i'm getting back to it though. still i noticed however, that eating not 100% raw let my scale waggy up again and i was frustrated as much as could be so i nearly lost all of my motivation ... but on the other hand i also noticed how i felt yucky eating so much junk again and how all of a sudden the heartburn returned and stomache aches and what not. so it was good for me to notice that raw food is and always will be THE thing to eat. so i'm back on the track, although not as motivated yet, but still hanging in :-))

Hi Rebecca!
Sorry for the delay in responding. We returned from our Germany trip last Sunday and re-entry has been a bitch! Plus I'm healing from a fall I took on the trip. So I haven't been feeling so well. But anyhoo......
Wendilou took my profile pic and added the fancy-schmancy effects to it. Isn't it a happy thing?
Except for a little gardening with petunias and marigolds as a little kid, I have NEVER grown my own plants and wasn't even interested in trying. I think being here on Rawfu and eating healthier and also gluten-free inspired me to try growing a few things. I'm really excited about it. The plants survived us being away for 10 days (a neighbor watered for us) and we have some tomatoes coming in! YEAH for me!!
Hope things are going well in Bozeman!
HUGS!
