Hi, Alexis. I hope times find you well. How did your cleanse go and where are you today on your journey? How do you make your raw green smoothies? Peace be upon you. Sincerely, Raw Novice

That's a great idea. I didn't think it was that humid in the house, but it must be. Maybe if I put the fruit in a small room with a fan and dehumidifier. That way it will be a little cooler, and less moist. Thanks for your suggestion. :) Warmly, A...

I feel for you. Tomatoes don't ripen much when picked green. You could put them in brown bags to trap the ethylene gas. I learned that the people who store produce in warehouses before they sale to stores suck all the ethylene gas out of the facil...

That used to be a problem for me too. I was the organizer of a co-op so I sometimes ended up with a lot of one type of food and had to find ways to consume, share, or store it before it went bad. My problem now really isn't abundance. In fact, I g...

I agree. I used to run a co-op so I had better access to farmers and selection, but it was still very unpredictable, even when dealing with very local organic farmers. Right now I don't have transportation of farmer's market days, and I have limit...

I don't know if you have a dehumidifier, but if humidity is a big problem, it might be helpful. Maybe just store the produce in the smallest room you have and run the dehumidifier only in there to cut down on energy usage. What a frustrating problem!

My tomatos are SO sad!!!! They are just green like 50 of them just green and doing nothing else. I wish I had good advice. i will look into it and leave you a message if i find any good ideas. ann

I have the same problem. We grow a lot of produce and it all comes in at the same time, meaning we have a LOT of tomatoes right now, but the berries are finishing up finally. For fruit I keep it in the refrigerator until I plan to eat it within th...

The rack didn't help me, but maybe combined with a fan. Let me know what happens. Thanks.

Thank you. I have tried everything you mentioned except the little fan. That might work. :)

You know, I never really thought about it, but we have the same problem with some fruits that we buy. It doesn't ripen evenly, and I wind up throwing away half of the fruit. I'm going to try using a rack.

What about leaving it on the counter during the day but putting it in the fridge at night? Maybe air circulation is needed too. Setting it up off the counter just on wire baking racks might help. A small fan probably can't hurt either. Around here...

It's HOT. We are minimalists and we do our best to use the AC in moderation. Most of the time during this summer, our thermostat has been set to 81-83' F. We get a lot of beautiful organic produce from out co-op, but much of it isn't ripe yet. No...

Hi Alexis!

How did you go with your green smoothies overcoming cooked food?

In response to your post on Day 7

As usual, Alexis, I can totally relate to what you are saying. My weight is--in part--protection, although I suspect what I fear most isn't so much being seen/treated as a sex object by others (which is what I used to think) as it is *feeling* like a sex object, taking on that identity again, that role.

Gosh. I think I ruined myself by thinking about cooked food and if it would really be so bad if I ate some. I was feeling SO STRONG today and then... My mom and sister brought over some of my favorite faux battered shrimp things from my favorite restaurant! I totally caved and ate 3 of them. They were good, but shit they aren't worth being fat and unhealthy over!! I really need to read that book. I will see if my local library has it and I will put in a request to get it. Thank you for the recommendation! (and for listening to me confess...) :)

You're welcome. I haven't read Doug Graham's book but I do know that beyond anything that another has written, we need to also listen to our own bodies.
I have known people to get sick after religiously following another person's raw plan. My husband was one of them. He emulated everything that Dave Wolfe did and said and unfortunately my husband suffered terribly because of it.
For myself, I had always taken the wisdom and principles of raw and living foods and created a plan that worked best for my own body. It gave me great peace to do it this way.

Thanks! Elisha was already at school the morning we filmed this....or he may have been at Grandma's for the night. The kids eat pretty healthy. Today we all had wheatgrass juice with lemon, ginger and apple. Sooo good! Then we had juice of celery, golden beet and it's leaves, leaves of carrot and the carrots, ginger, lemon, parsley, cucumber...yummy! Then for lunch we had spinach w/bananas, mangos, pineapple. It's 80 out and they are running in the sprinklers with green mustache's!
