I think it was in one of Victoria Boutenko's books where she speaks to this fact you've noticed. As I recall, she recounts a story wherein healthy, unsupplemented vegans moved from rural India to Canada. They didn't change their eating habits, but...

Sorry, guys, this is no recipe. While perusing a friend-of-a-friend's blog the other day, I came up against a journal entry about vegetarian haggis. The author's argument is that the idea of haggis oughta send vegetarians running in the opposite...

My friend's daughter lives with cerebral palsy and has had a great deal of trouble pooing. It got to the point where the doctor had mom use the finger technique above because the daughter was in such discomfort. :( :( But that was about a year ago...

A Heavy Scene

Lately, I've been ignoring the gorgeous living food in my fridge to eat my housemate's processed food.

I desire to eat this processed food, despite the fact that it
1. tastes uninteresting
2. smells bad, and
3. isn't good for me.

Last night for dinner and today for breakfast, I ate some Kraft cheese melted on a particularly processed kind of flatbread. The fingers I used to take the cheese out of the ziplock packaging smell pretty bad. Not just tired cheese bad, but a really unappealing, chemi… Continue

Buckwheat with Tasty Spices

Sorry, guys, this is no recipe.

While perusing a friend-of-a-friend's blog the other day, I came up against a journal entry about vegetarian haggis.

The author's argument is that the idea of haggis oughta send vegetarians running in the opposite direction. It seems that the author would have less problem with eating a food called Buckwheat with Tasty Spices, but would shake hir head in bewildered dismay at this concept of vegetarian haggis.

When it comes to describing my food to people, I do… Continue

I love not cooking!

The thing I am most surprised about is the fact that I can throw together a delicious, satisfying raw meal with the stuff that's just laying around.

I am not skilled at cooking. I have great admiration for my friends that can open the fridge and make dinner happen with what they find there. I love to eat their creations (shall I bring the wine? Of course I shall), but I never thought I'd be the one making the creations.

With a little help from my friends (many blessings to… Continue

Matt Amsden's Onion Bread

Matt, I love your bread.

The first time I made your bread, my spouse just about left me there on the spot.

To me, the scent of alium infusing our home wrapped me in comforting oniony delight. It was the gastronomic anticipation that has always defined bread to me; your bread delivered in droves. Like baked wheat bread, your bread's heady aroma called for m… Continue
