Why Do You Want to Join Raw Fu?
Because living raw makes me feel unbelievably fantastic and I want to know others who are doing the same. IRL I know of no other raw folks. You would think that feeling fantastic would be enough to keep me raw, alas....sigh....I know support will be good for me.

healing crisis

The first half of this challenge was a joy. I was soaring in every way. I felt light and blissed out all the time. I had incredible energy. Aches and pains I've had for years were gone. My skin was clear and glowing. Scars were even fading. I was sleeping soundly and waking energized (totally new for me - I've never been a morning person!)

I was diligently 100% for the first 50 days. Then a friend of a friend died from illness suffered after becoming infected with rat lung worm (lovely name, ye… Continue

I am cooking a traditional feast today, but.......

I am enjoying my morning yerba mate before heading into the kitchen to prep the turkey for the roaster. I am preparing a fairly traditional Thanksgiving dinner for my family (they are not raw, but since I do the majority of the cooking I usually make them a meat dish for dinner - they love their meat- and then the rest of the meal is raw with an occasional addition of rice or risotto or gluten free bread for them). Since I began this challenge I have been thinking that I would eat what I wanted… Continue

It is time to get organized and prep!

I've been 100% raw since the challenge began with the exception of 3 evenings when it seemed I could not get that satisfied feeling of fullness no matter how much I ate! I tried arame, kelp noodles, zucchini noodles, avacado, turnips, apples, nuts, pudding -you name it - nothing worked! Each of those 3 nights I ate a handful of corn chips with some kind of raw dip and it did the trick. The real issue here is that I have not prepared for those times. I have been busy - who hasn't? - but I really… Continue

welcome to 80-10-10!!! it's good to have you, especially since we ALL eat our dessert first, all day long! please jump on in to all the discussions, start your own, whatever. we tend to be pretty active online; there's usually something going on.

And I think we all had pretty much the same reaction to the book. it either resonates with you or it doesn't. I let myself get out of gear for way too long and I'm jumping back in, and it's the greatest. Thing. EVER. people accuse 80-10-10'ers of being too hardcore, but the truth is, it works. So we love it.

And we're glad to have you!

Thanks for adding me as your friend! I don't know too many other homeschool mothers, especially raw foodies. Do you feed your children/child raw, or just yourself? My daughter is about 70% raw, I am letting her go at her own pace.

Thanks for your post about teeth--I am always looking to take the best care of my teeth. Did a dentist tell you to do the saltwater rinse? I've heard of people doing a baking soda/water rinse. Do you know why salt? Is there a certain kind that's best? Would it be pretty much the same as baking soda, or is there a reason to do salt over baking soda? Thanks a lot for your help!

Oh wow! What a wonderful message from an unexpected place :-)

We aren't planning on attending this year, actually, although I'd really like to. We're just not sure exactly where we'll be at that point, and so I didn't want to preregister when we might not be able to go (we're looking at a move, but we don't know where exactly or when exactly, and Spring is generally when I like to move if it is going to happen).

I'd love to meet, too! You live in Hawaii? That is one of the places we're considering - if we can find the right ecovillage there. The idea of growing our own food year-round is pretty darn appealing...and all that sunshine. Especially this time of year when all we see is rain and fog - for nine months.

Perhaps we can keep in touch and meet at some point in the future?

Thank you! Hawaii is still a direction I am heading in. However, I put it on hold while I expand professionally. I may do retreats there until I call it home sweet home. I can't believe that 2009 is already here!!
