Plus the weird thing was the Macrobiotics books really hammered on eating locally but then they pushed all this Japanese specialty food like umeboshi plums, seaweed and stuff. It kind of struck me as contradictory. I wonder if a lot of these alte...

You mean MacroPsychotics? I tried it but it kinda drove me crazy. Too many rules but I still love Umeboshi Plum Vinegar and I think the eat locally part is right on.

I second what Bunny says. When I started, like many, I was vegetarian. Then vegan. Looked into macrobiotics and others, and finally landed on raw foods. Went 100% with that for a while. As I continue down the path of health, I still experiment. ...

If you are just starting out, and trying to find out which eating lifestyle is going to work for you, I highly recommend starting out by simply eating a fresh whole foods diet, and then slowly eliminating foods that are known to cause allergies, a...

Yeah I've gotten very spacy and would NOT want to be passing out meds to anyone EVER. But you can't afford to be out of it in that kind of job... I think 80-10-10 is a good thing in that some raw foodists go overboard on the fat and nuts and wond...

I agree with this....not all bodies are identical. Currently I am about 80% raw, and on my off days 60-70. I do what carries me through for the next 24-48 hours. Too much rigidity makes us cwazeee!

Hi Kylie, I couldn't do it. It was too restrictive for me and difficult to travel for work on. Someone, can't remember who, said something really great on a recent post. Actually it was two different people. Balance: you need to find balance in y...

I considered it but was never successful doing 811. I think we need some fat in our diet, and certainly more than 10%. Maybe some days 10% is easy to do, but come on. Fat helps us deal with stress, and unless we live in paradise on a tropical isl...

It sounded too draconian to me. I mean to do it you basically have to getmost of your calories from fruit but if you look at traditional cultures throughout the centuries it doesn't seem like anyone ever ate that way. I'm w/Bette - anything that ...

To be honest - I didn't stick with it. I found it really limiting and I travel for work about 70% of the time so it made it even more challenging. I felt like I was eating tons of bananas. I know that there are some people who love this diet and a...

Any veggies you like that digest well are fine. Tender leafy greens and celery are the easiest to digest and combine well with all fruits, but others can be enjoyed if you like, and many 811ers eat them at least on occasion, especially in transiti...
