Dinner tonight - Tomato Soup for the Soul

Or something. I have a headcold, and this is one of my favorite sort of comfort meals. There's no real recipe as I do it differently every time. The base is a handful of sundried tomatoes soaked in hot water (reserve the water) and a handful of grape tomatoes in the food processor. The I added a rib of celery, a small handful of green beans, a couple mushrooms. I soaked some garlic in olive oil, and just added the oil (raw garlic hurts my tum), and the leaves from a few sprigs of thyme and a bit… Continue

Lunch Today - Carrot noodles with spicy almond sauce

I had friends over today and made a raw lunch for them - so here's my recipe for the day.

Carrot noodles with spicy almond sauce.

Use a carrot peeler to make carrot ribbons (2 per person-ish)

Mix almond butter (1/4 cup?), with some Braggs (maybe a tablespoon), warm water (maybe a 1/4 cup) and chili sauce or pepper flakes to taste. Mix and taste until perfect. Add to carrot noodles, chop some cilantro and almonds for the top. Oh heavens. This is totally a staple in my life. I've made this othe… Continue

Dinner Tonight - Chinese Lettuce Wraps

Since I tend to eat fruit or smoothies for breakfast, and a salad for lunch, I thought it would be fun to blog my generally more adventurous dinner creations. Tonight was an unmitigated success. Dead tasty.

I sort of wish I could eat it again, even though I'm full.

Filling:
Big handful of mixed mushrooms (I had shitake, oyster, and crimini)
Celery
Mung, lentil, and adzuki bean sprouts (a mix from trader joes)
Braggs or nama shoyu
sesame oil

Chop the mushrooms and celery into the consistency y… Continue

I don't blog

But, here I am. I'm on day four, and I woke up this morning feeling so good! I got a cold about the same time I started raw, so this could be the cold lifting, or my stomach starting to right itself, or just a mood. Who knows? Anyway - here's me. Trying the raw thing - going like 99% raw, but not stressing about olive oil and whatnot. Hoping this rights my stomach (having GI issues on and off for years, gastritis flare in Feb. and persistant IBS since June), and helps with energy and weight loss… Continue
