Why Do You Want to Join Raw Fu?
I'm inspired by Bunny's blog -- and have felt sooooo good when I've gotten close to all raw. I get so easily derailed, though. I'm looking for support, encouragement, all that good stuff as I take positive steps for my health.

oregano report: I'm still raw and I start two jobs this week (woo hoo)

Being unemployed was really discouraging, and I was even looking at jobs in Kansas City in case nothing happened in Austin. In fact, I was reluctantly preparing to put The Treehaus (I call it that because I have a giant tree carved on my door, plus I'm on a hill surrounded by live oaks and junipers) up for sale -- without a job, I couldn't keep it long.

But while I was in Kansas City I got one job offer as a full-time copy writer for an Austin consumer electronics company (a good friend there h… Continue

Day 30: Laid off

We all kinda knew it was coming, but today 2/3 of my company got walked out the door. I knew I shouldn't have cleaned my desk yesterday (actually, I'm glad I am, still took me forever to pack up all my crap.)

So, no job. Didn't go out drinking with my co-workers -- sat in the parking lot, met a friend, cried, talked a lot, cried some more. Numbed out now.

But tomorrow's another day...I'll got to the raw food meetup, clean the house, have a WTF? meeting with myself --

I just posted this elsew… Continue

Day 27: feeling great physically, innards all happy now

It's only been the last few days I finally felt back to 100% after my Master Cleanse! The cleanse went great, but I transitioned off it too fast and my innards were completely justifed in having a WTF? response. My advice to anyone transitioning off a liquid fast is to take it slow, eat fruit slowly and in small amounts, keep chugging down lots of water (I was remiss in this and got a little dehydrated I think) and take probiotics. I've been drinking kombucha, as well, and I think that's helped… Continue

Day 23: not feeling so great, eating very light

I"m still not really transitioned off the Master Cleanse back to where I want to be. My digestive system is on strike, apparently (very painful elimination) so I'm eating lots of bananas and greens, taking probiotics and digestive enzymes, and drinking lots of water. I jsut don't feel good, overall. Next time I do a cleanse i will take lot more care in transitioning of f it. Fats, nuts, and rich SAD foods just instinctively sound bad, so I guess that's the silver lining....I'm following an 80-10… Continue

Thank you very much. How do you like things so far? The long term effects are so wonderful. I feel 15 years old again. Nice tunes BTW. I like to write a song now and then. How's the bats under the bridge?

Glad to hear the heating pad did the trick. Your tea should be ready around 7-9 days after starting your batch. After that it gets more bitter, and loses some of it's nutritive value. As for your scoby, just give it time. If you don't get a baby right away, that's okay. Just do another batch using the same scoby, and eventually, it will form another one, either atatched to your original, or the older one will drop to the bottom and a new oe will form at the top. They are both good to use after that. Your container does sound large. The scoby tends to form the shape of the jar it is in. I wonder if because there is so much area for the scoby to cover in your container it's taking a long time. I use the gallon size jars, make sure I only fill it to the wide part, before the neck, so air can circulate, and cover it with a paper towel to keep out bugs or dust and let in air. I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, let me know.

I just realized that you had left me a comment about the painting. Thank you so much. I am so honored that you like it. Please forgive me for being so late in responding. I have been very preoccupied with some family issues the past few months.
Much love to you!

Hi! Yep, none of em' were the one for you :) Sounds like the container you got is fine. Remember not to put a lid on it. Just a paper towel or some cheesecloth and a rubber band to hold it on. Green or black tea, either as long as it contains caffeine. Green tends to taste lighter than black. My favorite right now is green with ginger or peach or mango or raspberry. The fruity flavors yield a tasty tea. Read over the instructions I sent along with the scoby. There are lots of tea combos on there as suggestions. Good luck!

Hi! Love your new profile pic. You do look beautiful. You remind me of the gorgeous model in the JJill ads. Have you seen her? You could be her twin! Anyway, wondered how your kombucha is coming?

Hi! Me again. Also wanted to add that sometimes the baby scoby will turn out to be healthier looking than the mother. That's what happened with the batch I made before sending to you. The mothers had been in the frig for awhile, and weren't all that great looking, but their babies were beautiful.

I think I will be feeling better by then. Right now today this cold is at its worst. Ill probably make raw fettucini alfredo sauce and bring some raw noodles. That sauce is so good you can even put it on just as dressing. think I may do a juicing this next few days to kick this cold out. I bought alot of carrots kale, ginger, celery and cuccumbers

Yay! I am so glad. The scoby usually makes a new baby each time you do a new batch. In my experience they are generally the same circumference and easy to separate. But sometimes they are especially weak and thin and sort of "glued" to the mother. I usually don't separate them at this time and do another batch to let the baby grow stronger. It is perfectly ok to do it this way a few times, but as the directions say, don't let it grow into a big fat pancake or it isn't as effective. Sometimes I think the tea that is used is what determines the outcome of the baby's size and texture.

Great! If you will just send a baby to another rawfuer that asked for one (I'll get you the info) that would be great! No need to reimburse me :)
