Rebecca, sorry it's taken me so long to reply back to your request. Thank you for inviting me to be your friend! We did an adoption over the summer and that seemed to of consumed us for a bit.

Now take it easy on my i just started a week ago so I am at a meager crawl but I am doing it!! Ill get back to running for fun and relaxation again! I havent lost any weight per say but I feel it in my clothes and I feel better now. I am still struggling with P90X. I am concentrating on the run right now because I need it to relieve the tension of my work. This past week has been easy breezie since I run in the thick of the day. I knew you wouldn't take it the wrong way - I also didn't want to divert the conversation in your thread with a long post. You'd be surprised how "simple" I keep things - I don't own a dehydrator, I don't miscombine foods, etc., I don't eat "concoctions," etc.

I'm glad you found your feet again - knew you would. Your *commitment* to this lifestyle will pay huge dividends. Commitments are magical things. Don't be surprised what you can manifest now.

Hey Rebecca,

I deleted this from the comments on your video, because I worried I might have broken your rules. :0)

I'm super happy you're leading this conversation, you are such a gorgeious light filled being. I say that as someone who's been critical of 80-10-10 (not as a lifestyle, as I've said here countless times, I do believe fruit and tender leafy greens were our original diet, and what we'd be eating in pristine conditions). But then again, I'm not one to jump into unknown waters either! I'm definitely a baby-stepper.

I've never said 80-10-10 was dangerous or even unhealthy. I've only criticized it because I think it's impossible. :-) I'm not about restriction and it feels restrictive. Maybe not once you're doing it (clearly not for you, or Ashley, et al) but I think one would be more successful with such a lifestyle AFTER reaching a point where such *clean* and *light* foods were all one's body desired. Not as long as an addiction to heaviness (flip side of a fear of lightness) persisted. Why fight, I say, when it can be easy?

I admit I don't agree with Dr. Graham's interpretation of candida or how to fix it, doesn't mean it's not worth a shot, especially if alternatives (starving it, etc.) haven't worked.

I simply can't imagine transitioning from a SAD diet to an 80-10-10 diet without a lot of slips and falls. If you can handle the slips and falls and just move on, great, keep at it, as it's an extremely cleansing and healthy diet. As long as you're eliminating what you're dragging up with such a diet, go for it.

I have always addressed myself to the folks who can't handle the slips and falls, advocating for a transitional approach - removing the real poisons - processed and packaged food, all chemicals and additives, and in case of food addictions, all grains and maybe cashews - until the body is ready for a lighter diet, until "grounding" is achieved by other means. But I've always admitted that overt fats, spices, vinegar, etc. are only "safe poisons." I'm still on methadone in other words, and I'm someone who's super healthy.

I resonate very deeply with ONE aspect of 80-10-10 and that is "keep it simple." Digestion is key to health. In fact, you can use your digestion to gauge how well your diet's working and tweak accordingly. If you're not bloating from fruit that's awakening toxins your body doesn't know what to do with, if your third eye center doesn't throb from the sugar, etc., maybe you're OK with fruit.

I will add that unless you're living very close to nature, you might want to "supplement" an 80-10-10 diet with green juice. In the toxic conditions in which we live, I think there's a place for JUICING in the low fat raw vegan diet. I have had such amazing and life transforming results from drinking 24 to 32 oz of green juice a day, I can't imagine life without green juice - I'd give up mangoes and watermelon before I'd stop juicing. I think especially those of us living in urban environments, where soil quality is compromised, where our daily intake of toxins exceeds by several orders of magnitude the toxins in the life of prehistoric man, we need to consume nutrient dense foods. I also agree with Victoria Boutenko that our ability to digest fibrous greens is compromised (I myself am a very LAZY chewer).

I will do a raw retreat, even if it means eating only mangoes for three or four days. :-) Ironically enough, my body is rejecting fats now, so I'm in a weird place with my diet as I don't want to lose weight. I have been experimenting with grains after almost 3 years living gluten free but results not good. For a camping retreat, I'd only pay $125 per overnight. If you do it in late July or August, you can count me in.

Hey Bex, saw your video today and you are an absolute inspiration. Do you do no soap either? Just wondering if that might be what finally cures my skin problems - because your skin and no-poo hair look fab.

Anyway, I've set up this ning site to concentrate on the health benefits of both raw food in general and individual aspects of the diet (such as the fat content). It's at rawresearch.ning.com and I thought I'd let you know as it seems you have a lot of info on 811 in particular. No worries if you're snowed under though - this site and GITMR is just such an amazing resource. I'm hooked!
