100 Day Raw Food Challenge

So I haven’t blogged because I am a sugar addict who needs a meeting. I remember last Halloween feeling strong and raw and not eating a single piece of candy. This eyar, I can’t put the shit down. Yesterday I started the day thinking about raw veggies and not eating, and then the siren song of the peanut butter cup knocked me off track.

What is a girl to do?

Yesterday I ate great. Breakfast was some sauerkraut, then for a snack I had a banana with sunflower butter. For lunch I had a bunch of veggies and beans in a tortilla. For dinner I had a really nice salad with goddess dressing, some guacamole, chips and salsa.

But I also ate like 8 mini candy bars over the course of the day.

Today I hope to be strong enough to put the candy down and get back to my health. I brought fruit, carrots, and hummus to eat today.

One day at a time, my raw friends.

Sarah, I totally understand what you are saying. I have always been a complete junk food junkie with very little will power to just say no. I find that the only time I truly have absolutely no cravings is when I am taking in a lot of green smoothies and eating large amounts of greens. It is like the smoothies flip a switch in me. The problem is that when I am on a binge I have a hard time making myself eat the green smoothies because I am not craving them as much anymore.

Hope today is better for you. You will feel better when you get off the candy!! You can do it!

It's been a long journey and I'm not perfect by any means, but as a former sugar and chocoholic, when i eat lots of fruit, I have absolutely no sugar cravings. I was amazed when I had no desire for birthday cake one time. It continued afterward. Fruit, fruit, and more fruit! :-)

Have you ever heard of a book called The Diet Cure? That's where I learned about using GABA for cravings. For others L-Glutamine works wonders. The stuff repairs the brain and the results are fast--within minutes. About 1.8 of a tsp of GABA or 500mg of L-Glutamine. Apparently these are made of beans. The book doesn't promote veganism at all but it's good to be able to understand the "WHY" of cravings. EFT can work really well too if you remember to do it that is!

Sharon, amazing, i am going to check into it because I have two bottles of GABA in my kitchen just sitting there. Thanks for the tip.

Laurie, you're so lucky that the fruit doesn't ferment in your body, or send you straight to the convenient store for junk food. It takes all kinds to make the world go round. That's what I find so fascinating about the raw food diet. Every BODY is different.
