Ever since my trip to the big city (the food...oh the food!) a couple of weeks ago I have been riding the wave of indulgence...that has since turned into a rather destructive force. So it is time for me to get back on the path of raw food, exercise, meditation...not to mention my studies...instead of beating myself up over doing so well at first and then derailing. I think Uza articulated it so well in her video titled 'coming home to raw' (sorry, I haven't figured out how to insert a link yet), where she talks about the importance of coming back to the chosen path. I couldn't agree more. In short, this is the reason why I try to meditate. Meditation teaches me to bring my thoughts back to the present moment. Many people find it very hard to turn their thoughts off and conclude that meditation doesn't really work for them. What many don't realise, however, is that these thoughts are not supposed to be turned off. They are our friends! They give us an opportunity to practice re-centering; bringing the mind back to the present. Without this flow of thoughts we would already be accomplished meditation masters...and remember; even the buddhas have their days (the quote of a wise person whose name I don't know). Over time, we will be able to bring this practice into the hustle and bustle of our everyday life. When negativity arises; we will remember to bring our mind back to positive thoughts. When we depart from the path leading to our dreams and goals; we will find our way back. With gentleness and self-forgiveness.
