The thing I am most surprised about is the fact that I can throw together a delicious, satisfying raw meal with the stuff that's just laying around.
I am not skilled at cooking. I have great admiration for my friends that can open the fridge and make dinner happen with what they find there. I love to eat their creations (shall I bring the wine? Of course I shall), but I never thought I'd be the one making the creations.
With a little help from my friends (many blessings to
Tanja and the departed Oscar!), I'm one of those foodies now! Let me tell you what I just had for lunch.
A couple of days ago, i had
set some sun dried tomatoes to soak in oil and salt. They didn't do what I expected, but I figured i'd still use 'em.
Today, dreaming of lunch, i got home and took a gander in the fridge. I plopped some of those
tomatoes in the li'l' Oskar (a
steal at $8 from the thrift store!) with a few
filberts, some
sage, and some
dried italianesque spices.
Whirrrrrr- this needs some
sweetness and sourness, don't you think,
Ms. Boutenko? I'll add some lemon juice and some agave.
I spread it on some
onion bread (i must write a whole separate post on onion bread) and put it on the dehydrator while i sliced up the
fixins: lettuce, tomato, onion, and radish.
I ate it in the garden with a homemade
syrah. Oh, delightful. How I wish I'd quit cooking long ago!
